Ton of stories in the Courier Mail this morning, all saying much the same thing:
It's over
1. Travis Meyn's Player Ratings from last night:
1 Jamayne Isaako – 5
2 Corey Oates – 5
3 Herbie Farnworth – 5
4 Darius Boyd – 5
5 Xavier Coates – 7
6 Anthony Milford – 3
7 Brodie Croft – 4
8 Matt Lodge – 5
18 Issac Luke – 5
10 Payne Haas – 7
11 Alex Glenn – 5
12 Tevita Pangai – 7
13 Pat Carrigan – 3
14 Cory Paix – 5
15 Ben Te’o – 4
16 Joe Ofahengaue – 4
17 Tom Flegler – 5
3. Andrew Johns on Milford:
“I think Milford needs to be dropped - I’d be putting young (Tom) Dearden in and giving him a shot. The halves just aren’t playing together. With that middle field attack the halves are split and can’t play together. They have to absolutely blow their attack up. Anthony Seibold needs to get some new ideas. At the moment they are legless. They scored a try tonight off an intercept. They are just clueless in attack.”
4. Andrew Johns on the Carrigan tackle:
"It is so dangerous and it is cheap. Imagine 30 years ago if someone hit a halfback like that … imagine ‘Chief’ (Paul Harragon) … it doesn’t get any cheaper than that.”
5. Shit Seibold said:
Seibold said he wasn’t concerned with the effort but “individuals at different times just aren’t doing their job”.
“I will have a look at that (changes to the team). The challenge for young Tom, he is a super talent, but he has played one game in the past year. He is an NRL player of the future and he did a good job last year, but I have to protect him too. Is it right to put a young kid in a team that is not on top of their game, I’m not sure, I have to think about that.”
“There’s no doubt we need more from our elite players. ’Milly’ is an elite player, but when we are conceding so many penalties and six-agains, it’s hard for our halves to come into the game. It comes down to individuals taking responsibility. We have some talented guys and there was plenty of effort, but we aren’t giving ourselves a chance. It’s not a lack of effort or want, but we just have to be smarter."
6. Sterlo on TPJ:
“I know this is his first game back but he has got to make sure he is not a fair-weather player. He drifts in and out of games too much. He’s there for the good times. He has to make sure he’s there for the bad.”
Nothing to see here
7. Rugby Union proves it's in even worse shape than we thought:
Rugby Australia like what they see at the Broncos, and want Paul White to replace Raelene Castle. White responds
“The one thing is I am enormously invested in is the Broncos. I made a decision (before the COVID saga) to make this year my last in the best interests of the club. But I’m not going to tap out until I am satisfied the club is back on level footing. I’m not giving a definitive answer but I’m not saying no either (to staying on).”
