With that middle field attack the halves are split and can’t play together. They have to absolutely blow their attack up. Anthony Seibold needs to get some new ideas. At the moment they are legless. They scored a try tonight off an intercept. They are just clueless in attack.”

Seibold said he wasn’t concerned with the effort but “individuals at different times just aren’t doing their job”.

“I will have a look at that (changes to the team). The challenge for young Tom, he is a super talent, but he has played one game in the past year. He is an NRL player of the future and he did a good job last year, but I have to protect him too. Is it right to put a young kid in a team that is not on top of their game, I’m not sure, I have to think about that.”

“There’s no doubt we need more from our elite players. ’Milly’ is an elite player, but when we are conceding so many penalties and six-agains, it’s hard for our halves to come into the game. It comes down to individuals taking responsibility. We have some talented guys and there was plenty of effort, but we aren’t giving ourselves a chance. Rugby Australia like what they see at the Broncos, and want Paul White to replace Raelene Castle. White responds

“The one thing is I am enormously invested in is the Broncos. I made a decision (before the COVID saga) to make this year my last in the best interests of the club. But I’m not going to tap out until I am satisfied the club is back on level footing. I’m not giving a definitive answer but I’m not saying no either (to staying on).”

To answer your question Joey; 30 years ago, if you ran to the line with the ball in 2 hands and turned your back so the defence couldn’t see what you were doing with the ball, you would get belted and everyone would have gone on about how good a tackle it was.

I don’t like grub tactics (never have), but tackling a bloke a split second after he passes, when you can’t see that he has passed, is not grubby. That’s the risk you take when you turn blind at the line.

And let’s not forget why they do it. It’s an intentional tactic that allows them to conceal what they are actually doing (playing flat, out the back, dummy and run, turning under etc.).

It was literally less than a second after he passed - fair tackle for mine.

But hey, Croft got hit in a similar tackle not too long after that. Where’s the outrage?

I'm actually surprised they can raise the kind of funds his salary would likely command. The man won't come cheap and RA is on it's ass financially.

If I was White I wouldn't be taking the job until I'd had a good look at the books myself to make sure I was a realistic chance of actually getting paid.

TPJ 7? He had a shocker. Yes he pulled off some solid hits but other times got in peoples way trying to be a hero. Everytime the ball went wide he didnt move it on and if he did there was no room for herbie or coates to work in.

Carrigan 3? Yes there was the late shot but he tried his guts out again, and was definitely not amongst the worse on t he field.

Meanwhile they show a slow motion replay of McCullough grinding Milford's head into the ground following a questionably late shot after a kick, and it's crickets from the commentary box. Milford copped a few like that throughout the game and never once drew a comment. Johns just wants the halves he likes protected. The rest can **** off and get smashed.

I agree with Meyn on this. To me, TPJ was the only player on our team who stood out and looked threatening. But yes - and the stats bear this out - it was also peppered with errors. On Carrigan, it depends how you see THAT tackle. I'll leave that one up to the judiciary.

This is the issue right here... Milf stands on his left side of the field doing nothing and waiting for the ball to come to him, but it's an issue he's had whenever he plays with an actual halfback, because he was doing the same when he was with Prince and Hunt.

I've seen Croft pass to Milf and go towards that left hand side to link up with him, but there is nothing coming from left to right. All the plays to our right are starting from dummy half passing to Croft, which means the defence isn't stretched at all compared to going from one side of the field all the way to the other.

I recall at one point in the first half Milf was sitting left of the ruck on about a 20m blind side with Boyd and Oates. 3 players within 20m!! What the **** are they hoping to achieve down that side with that limited amount of space available?!?!

The dummy half ended up passing to Carrigan on the open side who drifted across the field, but there was no threat as Croft was waiting just right of midfield.

The reason why Moses is deadly down a blind side is because he's always sitting on the open side of the ruck... unless he can see an overlap and then he quickly wraps around the back of the ruck creating an overlap.

It's an issue with coaching that he is unable to get Milf where he actually needs to be, but it's also a complete lack of awareness from Milford to put himself in a position where he can actually do something

My question here is if the coach's tactics are to do what you describe above, and the team is coached to play that structure, and Milf or whoever take matters into their own hands, everyone gets confused ... but wait ... everyone is already confused so maybe you're right.

Conversely, in the 1st 2 rounds, Milf and Croft played a lot on the same side to great effect, as they did when they set up Boyd's try v Manly.

Either way, confusion is the operative term here and that is a matter for Seibold to resolve.

Croft and Milf playing a lot on the same side worked and I am um, confused as to why they have stopped.

It's pretty hard for Luke, Croft and Milford when they're getting fairly slow ball. Why can't we adapt like other teams have. Play the ball super fast, it's the most important part of the game this year. Lodge and Carrigan play with decent aggression, but are both slow to play the ball. They need to work on that, I think Carrigan's 3 rating above is deserved... He keeps giving away silly penalties that cost us dearly, and his goal line defence is very poor. I think the weeks training should be fast play the ball for the most part. If Farnsworth and Coates were fed some quick ball, they'd be scoring tries. Isaako needs to get involved in the line in attack too, it's like we're missing a player in that regard

I don't watch NRL media ever but just caught the NRL news or something from today and I tell you what, Corey Parker speaks like a coach...I was impressed with his breakdown of the problems at the Broncs and the need to get intensity and passion back into training. I'm a bit of a fan that he might make a good coach, he won't take rubbish.
