Ashes Discussion

Will be interesting to see how Carey goes about it.

He doesn't mind a quick strike rate, but the pitch and game position doesnt warrant it... except he's just seen Marnus, Head and now Green going pretty well by being attacking

I know it’s a bit early to be talking it but that wicket makes it harder for green to go big (100) with an out of form Carey and unpredictable bowlers to come.

The thing about Green though is that he does this regularly in Shield. Looks all class, runs out of partners and then just goes through the gears as wickets fall at the other end.

This has been a top class fifty from the big guy.

I was surprised to see Head had under 50% runs from boundaries... the partnerships have been as much about rotating the strike as it has been about the boundaries.

Carey really needs to make sure he doesnt get bogged down

Green playing through the V on the front foot is nice to see.

Looking at the scoring chart... maybe it's just wide of the V

I might be getting a bit picky especially considering the position we were in but I would like Carey to make a 50 cause that will definitely help Carey with the gloves and keep the wolves at bay. I wasn’t the biggest fan of his selection but there’s promise in him just needs to perform with the bat and organise a more trusting relationship with his 1st slip otherwise Inglis will be taking his position very soon with a lot for test cricket over the next 12 months.

Carey can bat we all know that from white ball he just needs some confidence in red ball and it’s not like he is a hack he plays some really nice shots so let’s hope that can transfer over in to red ball. If he can’t succeed in this test I would possibly consider sending him to shield for the white ball series in hope for some red ball form and go with a Inglis, Wade or maybe even McDermott for the white ball. I personally value red ball over white ball formats so that would be my tactic there but you never know he could come out of the white ball super confident.

Great to hear Head reference the “Hunt” game. Learnt and applied and batted through it. Great leadership.

interesting his leaves and attack was nearly identical to Brisbane as a percent. Great batting.

Poor time to lose your wicket- second session is the best time to bat in D/N Tests.

Average goes from 25 in first session to 34.

Marnus was set.

130 runs that session; third session av goes back down to 25.

Man Carey just does not look good at all out there, hopefully he stays in long enough to find the middle of the bat.
