The thing is, Australia will already be happy with this score, if they can put more mileage into Bumrah's legs, it will pay dividends next week too. He's into his 27th over and yesterday in Melbourne was extremely hot. Today isn't but the fatigue will be cumulative.

Sharma overbowled Bumrah yesterday, that will have a big effect on him you would think. In that sort of heat, you should be tiring out your spinners when you aren't getting wickets, not the one bowler who is actually taking wickets for you otherwise.

The tail have been great all series for Australia and they've needed to be, they haven't been getting much help from the openers (until this test) or the number 6 especially.

Bumrah is really suddenly looking like he is lacking venom too. Australia is also getting to the point where if the tail can support Smith after lunch, there are a lot more runs available as this ball is now closing in on 40 overs old as well.

Could you drop Smith to 5 and Head to 6 to allow Green back in at 4 where he has looked much more comfortable?

He was unplayable with the new ball this morning, but looked very tired that second spell.
