Australia v India

Pressure and lack of experience batting last in India was too much. Just not up to that yet.

I retract this (and sorry to anyone it may have offended) .. heat of the moment rubbish from me..

Bottom line, India too good in their conditions.. walking off day one 0-40 having rolled them for 189 we had to do better, but we didn't and we left the door open enough for them to push through
All good man - I'm with u .. I can't stand the cocky turds either but we don't carry on any better. Mitchell Starc carries on like a knob with each wicket and so do others

This side is starting to come together though:

1. Renshaw
2. Warner
3.
4. Smith
5. Handscomb
6.
7.
8. Starc
9.
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon / SOK

That is a pretty good nucleus to build around.

Not sure about Handscomb yet, has done nothing on this tour. Could be the next Joe Burns.

Cummins played his first shield game since forever today.. dare to dream

Agree, like Handscomb as a number 6 ... love his attitude and how he carries himself on the field but I think he's more suited a little lower in the order given his technique and could be valuable as that busy player holding things together with the tail.. he reminds me a bit of a Johnny Bairstow or Paul Collingwood type ... we really need some serious class in those batting spots from 1 to 5 and we're probably one or two short of that at the moment.. If Khwaja ever decides to stop being lazy and work hard on his weaknesses, he could be one of those batsmen we need.. I hope the selectors keep investing in our young blokes with genuine talent because it's unearthed a gem in Renshaw and if Hobart hadn't happened, he could still be manning the grade cricket canteen

When the pitch is doing plenty you don't need to see absolute howlers from the umpires. Seriously did the 3rd umpire think he was going to get lynched if he didn't give warner out. Bad enough it was given in the first place, but on review? Seriously disappointing. Ruined what could have been a cliff hanger.

India got super lucky in that fourth innings and have disrespected Australia every chance they get in press conferences and on field. But no, Australia isn't playing in the spirit of the game. Let's hope they Aussies use this to fire themselves up.

My first XI would be this for the Ashes:

1. Renshaw
2. Warner
3. Khawaja (Patterson as spare batsman)
4. Smith
5. Handscomb (wk)
6. Lehmann
7. Starc
8. Cummins
9. Pattinson
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon (I would take SOK)

I realise this team is light on batting but Starc and Cummins are both basically bowling all rounders and Pattinson isn't too far off that himself either. As for the keeper, the Aussies just don't have anyone good enough at present. Whiteman could be but just isn't consistent enough. A bit hard on Nevill but oh well. McDermott has a ton of potential but isn't even keeping for Tassie. Pierson has the most potential out of them all but has only just debuted and is nowhere near the side yet.

what did Warner do to you? lol

I'd be happy to bring Nevill back into the fold if we ditch the all rounder circus and pick a solid top six batsmen.. as Sproj has suggested there's time for a new young face like a Lehmann et al to earn a shot if they keep producing in the Shield..

It is a tricky one though because imo bowling at home is probably the hardest yakka of anywhere in the world now for our bowlers.. they generally play so truly for the first four days at least.. it can take a long time to get teams out on our decks so going without a genuine fifth bowling option can be a risk ..

Oh boy, Wade instead of Warner, what was going on between my brain and hands typing?
