OFFICIAL Bellamy extends contract with Melbourne Storm

Watching Waynes interview yesterday - i think its possible hes moving on end of this year. To me Wayne seemed to get a little upset. There no real reason for Wayne to get upset unless he knew it was coming to an end/leaving/replaced/decided. I would say before this media bust out, it was a 90% deal done. The speed at which Broncos and Belly reacted, the words spoken says to me its a plan and their focus is to control the situation rather than let the rumours spiral out of control.
I tend to agree with this. To me, the only ones who aren't calm about this is the media. They're the ones creating the headlines, and langauge like the coaching debacle, and disrespect. I find the contradictoray headlines hilarious. Couriermail/foxsports: Its now or never, bellamy won't wait. NRL.com headline: Bellamy says year off could work. The media hear the same interviews as the rest of us, but **** me they get some crazy arse interpretations of what is being said and how its playing. Kent just about blows his load everytime he gets to say the Broncos are tapping Wayne on the shoulder. The garbage about kevvie is just trying to drum a shit storm as well. IMO theres not a chance in hell that the Broncos sign a rookie coach again. Fave son or not, I think he has to get a gig elsewhere first because the henjak/griffin era must/won't ever be repeated. The way I saw the 3 interview yesterday, all 3 invloved were professional, measured, and appearing to me like they all know whats happening and are playing it out like professionals should (unlike the media fucksticks).

Happy?
Much better

Personally, I don't think Bellamy will arrive at the Broncos. I think it has played into his hands beautifully, and he will get a nice kick in the back pocket with how it's all played out.

I'm not so sure. I bet those guys down there have sat down and decided exactly how much they are willing to offer and are unwilling to offer any more.

Bennett shows emotion when it's warranted. I'd be embarrassed if we had someone like Stuart throwing tantrums every time there's a dropped ball.

As for engages with the media, who in your mind is the gold standard for their media commentary? I can't think of a single coach who satisfies your first condition that actually bothers giving the media more than either contempt, or boring platitudes. There have been a few lousy coaches that hold a greater presser (Matt Elliot springs to mind), but that sort of candour gets tiresome when your team stinks.

I like that about Stuart.

I don't know who has the gold standard but I can tell you WB is at the other end of the scale.

Storm bosses have their old fella out swinging in the breeze.
This is one of the few things I agree with Kent about. After all the success of the past ten years plus, they're still losing money and, if Bellamy goes, they'll be in real trouble. I'd go further though and say that they're in real trouble no matter what because , Cronk is gone, Smith (while still good) is not as fast as he was and both he and Slater will be gone in the next year or so. If they're not making a profit now, they won't do it when the stars go and they come back to the pack.

We're in a win-win situation here. Either we get Bellamy or we don't and we keep Bennett while Storm have to pay a shit ton extra to keep Bellamy.

Brisbane will just front the media and say our club doesnt get topped up by millionares, we stand on our own two feet and still make **** loads of money

Never knew the Storm were part owned by a bookie. Conflict of interest much?

Not that I'm convinced that Bellamy is the saviour, in fact far from it, but if that's the way the club wants to go I'll back them
Not having a go at you, but I don't really see this whole issue as Broncos looking for a saviour. The board may or may not be happy with where things are at, but I think they're facing the reality that Waynes longevity, like it or not, is a real consideration. He may prove everyone wrong and coach until he's 80, but what if he can't cut it beyond 2019. If that happens, the best succession plan currently possible is not in play because Bellamy will have recommitted for another 3/4 years with Melbourne. I don't consider whats going on a debacle, and sure don't draw the view that as a fan I need to be treated better FFS. like media and others suggest. I don't even think Wayne is pissed TBH, he more than anyone knows how shit works, so not sure why the so called former legends think its karma (what a fucked concept that is, but thats another story). The reality is that this play had to be made, or our coaching option for 2020 is who??? I sure as shit don't want another rookie in charge, so who is available for 2020 if not Bellamy.

Anyone seen Badel's twitter page? My god.

I think this guy still has the shits..

To be fair Fox are doing a special interview with Bennett specifically about his 800th game.

The other difference to Bellamy was that most of the highlighting was coming during the pre-match review shows Thursday pregame, super Saturday, etc. and his game was probably Saturday night??

Bennett's 800th is on Thursday literally the first cab off the rank.

They've done a couple spots on the interview but 360 probably should have made a bit more of a deal about. There's also no reason why the pregame tonight won't have some sort of feature on it.

I thought I heard on the radio today that Bennett had asked for tonight to not be about him.

He said it during the press conference, as well.

It's just another game to him and the focus should be on the team, not him.

The point I'm making using that word saviour is that when you throw $5m plus over 4 years at a coach, you need to be pretty convinced he is the missing ingredient - virtually guaranteeing premiership success (as much as it can be guaranteed)

You throw that kind of money at people with a proven track record

I just don't view Bellamy that way

Sure he is good, but he isn't 5 million dollars guaranteed good

The Broncos missed out on Green

they didn't miss out on Green ... they didn't chase Green because they don't want Green

I'd imagine Paul White would be under a significant amount of pressure as since he has been at the Broncos, they have not won a comp, and they have gone through a couple of coaches

Bullshit ... Paul White would be under absolutely no pressure ... his job isn't winning premierships (that's what we have a coach for) it is ensuring that the club is successful off the field ... and he is the man responsible for the Broncos thriving empire

Wayne has done it to himself tbh
Refusal to sign a HB
Horrible start to the year
Over paying Boyd and Bird
ect

what a load of shit ...

Bennett isn't responsible for contracts. he tells the board who he wants and they put the financial package together. at most he would be the guy they turn to to convince someone why accepting our offer is the right move

sounds like Badel is trying to take the focus off the fact that White made him look stupid when he asked about Green

Don't tell me you're speculating Huge or do you have some inside knowledge?:shhhhhhhhhhhhosh:
Sure, speculation is and will always be fine. What's not fine is making statements claiming to know facts, claiming events that have occurred are due to unproven 'fact' and claiming to have inside knowledge. None of which I did.

Yeah it is pre-recorded with Ennis.

Half hour special tonight at 7.00 before the game

Things that I need to happen in that half hour special:

A) Craig Bellamy sending his best wishes and congratulations to Wayne on reaching 800 games "This is your Life" style

That is all.

Glad we are on the same page. I still don't know who you think claimed some kind of inside knowledge.
