Meanwhile down at the Storm:

Lol he's come out and said in an interview that he's excited to come to the club and rejected other offers because he wanted to play for the Broncos. I dno why the phins (allegedly the only club offering big money for him) would want the NRL to force him on them at this point?

And lol at a 26 year old CCM winner being fine to take a mil+ less to stay at the storm but we're up shit creek for paying a 35 year old (who is a player we originally developed and a club jr) 600k? The admins and journos in this sport are an absolute joke.

I don't recall a Crawley article about Wighton signing on the cheap last year 🤔🤔

Wighton didn’t cut loose over a million dollars to earn nothing for a month and then sign at half his contract.

Hunt/Broncos have done nothing wrong but a few weeks ago Papenhuyzen was called a cheat for reportedly signing for a couple of 100k less.

The whole transport publication of pay has been argued and nearly everyone on here was for it.

I don't recall a single mention in the media about Paps being called anything negative. On here we did absolutely but no name fans calling it out is a lot different to the media.

still crazy to me that other fans get all riled up at the mere thought of us having a good side. even though we have not done anything in 18 years.

You get the memes and jokes from fans when it's the Storm Roosters or Penrith, but if it's the Broncos, boy, oh boy, is the whinging magnified 10 fold. To be fair, a lot of it is because the media carry on more when it's us. Any Broncos news means more clicks, after all.

I read a comment apparently from an unnamed nrl coach that with the Hunt there we should go through the season undefeated with our squad. Even the 1992 or 1998's side couldn't do that and they were far superior sides.

“The Broncos won’t need much luck next year, seriously they should win every game with that roster,” one NRL coach said.

If Papenhuyzen quit the Storm today, went and sat on a beach for two months and then signed with the Eels for 450k I think you’d see a few what the hell is Ryan doing pieces.

TL:DR Other clubs have had a sook. Oh, and we haven’t lodged it yet.
And so it begins…

From that Article:

salary cap auditor will benchmark Ben Hunt’s contract against other offers and consider key metrics, including his age, before registering the Broncos reported $600,000-a-season two-year deal.

3 of the 4 clubs were talking figures of 600k or less. The Dolphins offer was the exception not the rule ... even as inconsistent and incompetent as the NRL, if they start deeming a players market value as the offer that is way above what all other rivals are offering then it will open a can of worms that will **** every teams salary caps and the NRL will have a tough time getting those worms back in their cans.

oh, this is my favourite section of the article

The Broncos are privately laughing at any suggestion they have stretched their salary cap to sign Hunt.

They point to their loss in the past 18-months of Herbie Farnworth, Thomas Flegler and Kurt Capewell.

They also point to the fact that a long list of the current roster, including Walsh, Mam, Riki, Deine Mariner, Cory Paix, Jesse Arthurs and many more have emerged from the Broncos academy and that despite interest from rival clubs, they are intent on succeeding at the club that has helped make them.

Broncos management also point to the attraction of player’s being able to live in Brisbane at a cheaper cost of living than rival cities, like Sydney or Melbourne.

However, most critically, the Broncos defuse the debate by pointing to Hunt’s age.

The Test and Queensland State of Origin playmaker turns 35 in March next year.

The Broncos would never say it publicly.

But Hunt’s signing isn’t without risk, particularly given his likely halves partner to begin the season, Adam Reynolds, is 34.

What about when Dolphins offered Munster like 1.5 mil, and he's like , nah I'll stay at Storm.

Right about the time a bunch of Storm players were "investing" in the Storm CEO's sports betting agency.

Probably the most flagrant and out in the open salary cap cheating .

Say what you will about the Panthers, no one cheats like the fucking Storm. I'll watch Panthers win 10 in a row before I see those Purple cheats raise another illegitimate premiership.

Right. So because he didn't do that but still accepted way less than market value according to the reported offer he got from the Dogs, he gets a free pass?
Why is it ok for them to do it but not us?

On top of that, all of their key players have received significant offers to go elsewhere but have stayed for less (see the Munster reference above for starters).

Coates apparently took less to go there than to stay with us, the club that developed him. And then they sign on one of the hottest properties on the free market in Utoikamanu.

Oh and did I mention they have a well documented systemic instance of salary cap breaching over several years?

But nothing to see here according to you.

However we try to sign Hunt on a comparative value to what three other clubs were reportedly offering and its ok to pile on us?

Like legit, you can't see what the issue is here?

The Staggs narrative doesn’t just come from nowhere, a club out there is clearly trying to make something happen. It’s pretty laughable that there was not a peep out of these Sydney journos about market value when they thought hunt was a sure thing at the roosters...

Absolutely. Look at the players that Penrith developed, and subsequently lost.

Those BETR shares would have got them a lovely broker firm placement offer when BETR merged with Bluebet, too. They would have gone in at $0.21 on that placement, a nice 30% increase to date. This isn't factoring in is their average price for the initial BETR tranches (GIFTS). Matt Trip would have simply given those shares away off market. They recipient will deal with capital gains taxes but whateverrrr.

Munster, Papz, and Olakuatu - let's wait for the Phins to offer Hughes or Harry Grant some kind of insane wage for them to walk away from $2.2m+ over 4 years, just like Munster.

We just can't leave the boys and our shitty podcast!!

I'm not a vet but I know what a dog is ffs
