In the US, many basketball players, NFL etc are prohibited from participating in dangerous sports in their spare time, such as bungee jumping, rock climbing etc, because if they are injured then they could lose their contracts and/or insurance won't pay out.

This shouldn't be any different. Marshall is contracted to the Tigers. IF they let him go, they should have a clause they if is his injured playing rugby then his contract should be torn up.

Or like what Nashy suggested, if he only wants to be contracted for 6-7 months of the year, fine, but he will have to seek a new contract when he comes back.

unless he signs a new contract, he will be out of contract on Oct 31 this year. so i'm not actually sure the NRL can stop him. especially if the Tigers keep money aside for when he gets back to Australia
