Best fullback you have SEEN play the game?

I think Slater is not yet as good as Minicheillo was before his body fell apart. Mini almost had the best kick return I've ever seen.

there are a few fullbacks who in their prime are above Slater.

Which fullback had the best first year? Hunt?

Bowen? Yeh I mean he DID have those killer couple of seasons but he was found out in origin pretty big. In saying THAT he wasn't really given much of a chance at no. 1 AND we had some uber shit teams back then. Don't think he rival-ed Locky at all to be honest.
bowen was never given a real chance in origin. he played when our team was pretty bad, and was only ever given a game here and there and always out of position, mostly from the bench.

but for the cowboys he was just brilliant. ive got the highlight dvds of the cowboys for a few seasons, and just week in, week out he tore teams apart single handedly.

as for slater, i dont think there are too many fullbacks who were above slater in their prime. how many other fullbacks have won the golden boot, international player of the year, clive churchill medal, and *shouldve* won the dally M? not many i would think.

Oh yeh indeed. In terms of bringing the ball back in a bash... (but not kamikazee like Hunt did)

Yeah. One thing Minichiello has over Slater (and Lockyer for that matter) is that he seemed to ALWAYS break the first tackle, even if they seemed to have a good shot on him. He was incredibly strong.

I hated him because he was so dangerous!

yeah he NEVER got taken down by the first attempted tackler, he had the most tackle busts in basically every year where he played the majority of the season (which probably wasnt many lol). he was very good, so as bad as it sounds, i was always happy to see him out injured come Origin time. darius boyd is starting to look mini-like in his kick returns.

Yes it was very different. Locky would use his elusiveness and his wingers when he could but of course get smashed when he could not. He was also not as effective on returns (naturally) when he had weak wingers after Tuquiri/Sailor/Walker left.

Agreed - Body is the ultra-crappier version so far.
