Maybe. It's a tricky race because it starts the season and it's a lesser race as well so motivation and form are always hard to identify. Not to mention teams are weaker so it's harder to control the peloton so the right break in one stage can often decide.

Either way, I'd not back Porte. Way too short.

Course does not look to favour Porte so barring exceptional form over all others there's no reason to back and his presence creates strong value for punchy riders. Generally speaking motivation is key here because there will be a lot of guys just here for a hit out.

Overall Bets
Tom Dumoulin @ 26 - Has said he wants to do well here and course suits his skills.
Luis Leon Sanchez @ 26 - Typically starts the season well and is now with Astana. Won't get many chances to ride for himself so should be motivated here.
Rohan Dennis @ 51 - On Cadel's team so could be successfully used as a 2nd danger and find himself in key break
Thomas De Gendt @ 151 - Probably will do **** all but his skill set suit the course too well to ignore.

Won't be having any stage winner bets so that's it for the Santos.

Qatar: Garcia, Wiesberger E/W and a couple of roughies.

Humana: No idea but I'm tempted by Stefani for no reason whatsoever.

De Gendt is well out of contention. Lost 13mins on the first day.

Rohan Dennis won today's stage and is now in the overall lead. Cadel Evans is in 2nd though and they are team-mates. Tom Dumoulin is in 3rd.

On the Humana: Ended up going with Hoffman, Palmer, Stallings and Finau as my serious bets. Had to throw $1 (literally) on Stefani to counter the jinx. Pretty sure that $ is now gone, but at least I won't want to neck myself if he wins. My eyes keep sliding onto Keegan but I'm avoiding temptation.

My Wiesberger bet is looking solid at this stage.

Wiesberger looking very strong. For some reason I always ignore him. I have a pretty bad Uihlein fetish that never seems to work out!

I'd stay well clear of Keegan. He's best on tougher courses and this course will be a birdie fest. For that reason I added Russell Knox to my list.

Yeah, I'm going to. I just hate when a name catches my eye. I've got various other little bets here and there. I honestly think the winner will come from Palmer, Stallings or Finau. Palmer is a gut feeling nothing more.
