One of these two.

The winner polled 13 votes and the runner up polled 9. These two have contested many a big finals game over the years and that will continue tomorrow. Winner of that game and this award tomorrow

Other Votes
Wayne Bennett - 5
Michae Maguire - 3
Ivan Cleary - 2
Trent Robinson 1

Cant disagree with that, the culture they instilled at their respective clubs has made them what they are for so long.

So the other day the Knights U20's had to collect their minor premiership after losing a finals. Looks like it's the same for Mr. Bellamy, who was voted the best coach. He'll have a longer than hoped for off-season to reflect on his victory.

BEST SECOND-ROWER

33 votes for this one. 5 players received votes and our winner got 24 of them. No surprises who took the cash here.

Sonny-Bill Williams

Other Votes
Boyd Cordner - 4
Greg Bird - 3
Matt Gillett & Ryan Hoffman - 1

My Verdict: Absolutely no surprise to see two Roosters top the voting. SBW is all class (on the field) and has amazing skill and ability for his size and I still maintain he will be a loss to the game. Cordner is impressive but how much of the Roosters dominance here is due to the way they play and are coached? It's a decent factor IMO.

My WTF were they smoking vote: Matt Gillett and Ryan Hoffman. I love Gillett, but there's no way he or Hoffman are better than SBW.

Bet I know who voted for Gillett!

BEST HOOKER

33 votes for this one and there is a major surprise in this one.

Robbie Farah

Yep, that's right. Robbie Farah polled a vote. Fucking disgraceful isn't it? It was just the one thank god. Luckily Broncoman doesn't have some sort of ability to hide IP and vote multiple times.

The winner who polled the other 32 votes, doing what he does best:

I'd be willing to bet Spwn voted Farah...

No Ning, Gillett wasn't mine. :aetsch:

I went with Bird for second-row but can see the argument for SBW and he's probably the safest choice. Cordner being voted over Bird was a surprise & honestly think Hoffman has been a better player these past two years and I've got a lot of time for Boyd.

I'm beginning to doubt myself...surely I didn't vote against my favourite player in the competition? I've been a little down on his 2014...but surely not.

BEST WINGER

33 votes for this one. The man who finished with the most votes is pretty good at finishing things...

Brett Morris (18 votes)

Other Votes
Josh Mansour, RTS - 3
Daniel Tupou, Semi Radrada - 2
Taufua, Hoffman, Winterstein, Richards, Hiku - 1

My Verdict: I voted for Morris. He does everything quite well and is an elite finisher. Still, I don't really think of him as being up there in terms of some of the great wingers we've had over the years. The Sailors, Tuqiris, Folau's etc. S

My WTF were they smoking vote: Antonio Winterstein. I mean, really? Doesn't really do anything exceptionally.

I went with Semi since I'm a bigger fan and believe he's got a higher ceiling than the others.

On review, I agree with Morris receiving the vote. I was never a huge fan of his but he's really developed into one of the better players and thought his form even at rep. level was superb. He's also won a lot of respect from me - while he may look like Jimmy from South Park, his bravery is no joke and he showed plenty of toughness in Origin, playing with one shoulder and denying Boyd on a few occasions despite it.

Also thought he was underrated at the World Cup. JT kept getting all the MotM awards but there were games where Morris was better.

I think what makes Morris so good is his discipline and decision making. Whilst his finishing is spectacular you rarely see him go for the hero play in questionable field positions or make errors with the ball. He also makes good decisions in defence and is safe under the high ball. So many wingers these days have a fault you can attack or expose and I think that is why Morris is a level above - he doesn't have that weakness.

Mind you, I think in a year or two's time, Mansour is easily going to be in the conversation.

It's obviously something Morris has been working on because for a time he was a punchline and had the tendancy to make horrible decisions or come up with really bad errors. The one that comes to mind was Jharal Yow Yeh's try in Origin. Just a comedy of errors from him & Duges on that play.

Mansour is in that conversation right now. In fact, with Boyd & Morris injured, I wouldn't be surprised to see him named on the wing for the Kangaroos. It's unlikely but considering it's between him and Johnston, I wouldn't be surprised.

Mansour is Vidot with better hands and much less effective hit ups.

Faster, more agile, better under the high ball and better at finishing tries.

So basically everything you'd want in a winger.

Hoffman could be right up there... if he wanted.

Mansour is Vidot with better hands and much less effective hit ups.

I don't know if they are that much less effective. Pretty sure Mansour led the comp in tackle breaks...
