Hazy memory, but barring the really obvious ones, the Eastwood hatrick (or 4) on the wing as a last stop gap substitute against the Warriors sticks out.
Been going through the Middleton books to help me with some of the earlier games. So far I've gone through 1992, 94 and 98, leaving me with 20 nominees. The kicker is, I've already been put into a situation where I've left matches off because they were simply big wins against injury plagued sides which simply don't stack up against our big wins against full-strength sides.
So far 1994 has the most nominations with 8 which is a surprise. Just a very up and down year, I doubt a lot of those wins will make the final cut like the 92 and 98 wins will but whenever they did play well they made it count.
Also for all this talk of how dominant the Broncos were in 98, I was surprised at how many close games they had that year and how lackluster their run was to the finals. I don't think I'm spoiling anything (given it's 17 years old now, new born kids from that year are probably driving by now) that the final three games really defined that year for the boys.
I've gone through every single game and narrowed it down to 73.
Could have easily had twice as many.
Now to narrow it down to 20. I should have done that in a few hours time so penny can at least have three lists.
Won't go into much detail until penny posts the thread up but an early stat...
Out of the 73 games, 66 of them came from Bennett's time at the club, with Henjak's tenure picking up 4 while Hook had 3 - all from the same year.
My criteria was based on the quality of the performance, quality of the opposition, significance etc.
Despite the last quality playing a factor, only 3 GFs made the short list and I suspect only one will make the Top 20. I expect to see more Prelims and Semi Finals than actual GFs.
