Am I the only one that thinks the NRL is playing a massive game of chicken with the clubs and the fans.

It's like the just want to keep pushing and pushing, making ridiculous decision after ridiculous decision until eventually someone snaps and they will be like "hey hey, calm down we were just mucking around, we will start acting like grown ups now... Geez"

They're doing their usual thing after a tragedy ... Talk tough on cracking down ... Then act weak when it comes to actually doing it.

Similar thing happened after the Mckinnon incident with dangerous throws.

By their own rules, injury can't determine whether a player is charged or not, it can only affect the suspension time. It's bullshit.

NRL gets tough on shoulder charge, introducing automatic suspensions - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

The NRL has announced that any player who commits a shoulder charge with force will be suspended for at least one game, effective immediately.

The change to the rules comes after Sydney Roosters forward Kane Evans escaped sanction for his monster hit that floored Canterbury prop Sam Kasiano last week.

NRL head of football Todd Greenberg said changes needed to be made to remove any ambiguity on whether a shoulder charge should draw a charge from the match review committee.

I thought we should have fought it even at the time. I was very surprised and disappointed we didn't.
