Broncos 2020 Squad

I dunno. Signing Boyd was pretty fucking bad.

Let's not rewrite history here. Boyd was fantastic for us when he first came back. You could similarly argue that Blair was a bad signing, one that I did not agree with at the time, but he was absolutely a part of why we were so successful in 2015. Both declined as the years went on, but they shouldn't be considered bad signings.

Pretty accurate, but consider this.

If you got a car over a 6-7 year loan and it was a very good car for the first 2-3 years and then progressively got worse to the point it was a lemon - overall, you would not be happy with it.

Human nature means that, for most people at least, the first few years that were good would be overshadowed by the final few years where it was unreliable, breaking down, faulty and just not performing how you’d expect.

The 2015 Boyd signing is that car, probably a 1990’s Jaguar (when it was new of course). Good while you have that 3 year, new car warranty, but you’ll hate yourself a little more each day thereafter for buying it.

EDIT:
Better still, it’s like buying that Jag on a 3 year loan with the intention of replacing it after that, only to refinance it for a further 4 years after that.

That would be the epitome of regret.

Folau will probably be allowed back now that he’s apologised. There’s one for Melbourne

I thought Beattie had ruled that out of course he’s no longer there and v’landys May have a different view.

I think he is destined to be forbidden fruit. Most NRL clubs would love to have him for his talent, but the risk of another social media episode is too high to justify signing him.

At his current age, with all the current baggage, I just don't see their being enough upside to justify the risk for really anyone to take him on. He's also had a fair chunk of time out of the game now which wont help at that age.

I think at this point he'd have to go to somewhere like Japan. He could I guess change allegiances and see if Tonga would take him for their Rugby side or even their Sevens side, but seeing as that would extremely low paying, and after going across three codes for a range of different team he's proven he's mostly just a cash hungry mercenary, it's unlikely Folau would entertain it.

Sorry, i mean the deal he signed at the end of 2017. When he was clearly struggling with injury, on the wrong side of 30, and given a 4 year deal which has fucked us.

Pretty Solid, would only probably like to keep a spare back on the bench, Bird and Glenn can play Lock/Centre if need be, but if we are down a half Boyd wont cut it at 6/7.

Staggs can fill in at a pinch in the halves. I still think he will have McCullough there as cover for Turpin.
