Could extract the best out of Oates by moving him to the backrow. It seems his time on the wing is nearly up, the signs are showing that he’s a forward playing as a winger. It also frees up space on the wing to develop someone like Coates, Farnworth, Perese or Arthars.
I’d like to see Boyd and Bird as a combo and have them just be solid in defence as a minimum standard.
Fifita, Staggs and Coates on the right side would provide enough spark in attack.
On the left, we’d just need proper execution of plays which Boyd and Bird would be useful for.
Both halves should be floating around either side of the ruck along with Isaako at fullback IMO. Croft did this well for AUS Under 23’s.
I am keen to see how our spine gels. Will be interesting if Isaako and Milford start to link up together.
I think our best tactic this year is to work hard on defence and in attack just have a general goal to keep pushing forward with confidence and finish our sets off well.
When we’re close to the line I don’t think we’ll find it hard to score. We have the strike power, size and skill.
