29/07/90- Beat Tigers for the first time- always the Broncos side they couldn't beat, too big and powerful too Sydney smart. Ryan waving his magic formula and Roach, Elias, Pearce, McGuire, Sirro bashing away.

Carne 100m intercept, Walters going straight through the middle, Gee staging a one man war against Pearce and then Sirro right on half time.

7/08/92- Beat the Premiers Penrith at Penrith in the third last round- just the sort of game the Broncos had been losing pre 1992. Cold, terrible weather and a tough Sydney team fighting for their life. Gould had them charged and the Broncos toughed it out 12-6. Broncos won the comp that night and didn't lose again that year.

7/06/1989 - Panasonic Cup final vs Steelers

The Broncos went in as favorites while the Steelers were very much the underdogs going into the match and highly supported by the fans south of the border because of their hatred of the Broncos. A strong display from the Broncos early on saw the Broncos up 16-0 at quarter time and the Broncos thought they had it in the bag, but a spirited fight from the Steelers saw the scoreline 16-14 at the third quarter. The last twenty minutes saw both sides scoring a converted try and the Broncos got home 22-20. The Broncos were abused, heckled and jeered when presented with the trophy, Ken Arthurson came into the sheds afterwards to apologise to the Broncos for their behavior. When the Broncos returned to red hill they made it very clear how they felt about the treatment they received south of the border, led by Wally Lewis "And to all those people who booed us down there .... they can kiss our ..." with the players on stage turning around and pointing to their backsides. It got them raging mad south of the border, even calls to be kicked out of the competiton came about.

Found some footage of the match against the Panthers in 1992. 1910 is correct, this was definitely the sort of game the Broncos were all too often guilty of losing and it's a match Bennett became absolutely confident they could go all the way.
