BRONCOS HOME GAMES

Thanks for all your replies. I have recieved an email from the Broncos stating that we might be lucky to get a Saturday or Sunday for one of the last 4 home games. So fingers crossed.

If the Broncos lose a lot of matches then next year you may get your wish. Personally I would like to see them winning and playing Friday night

I to, hope that they do more winning than loosing.

Whilst a few Sunday games would be great, unless everyone is prepared to compensate lost TV revenue through more expensive seats then we will either have clubs fall by the wayside or the next generation of league stars jumping ship to rugby and/or AFL.

I don't think it (TV Rights) has anything to do with the price of the seats. That I believe is controlled by the owners of Suncorp stadium and Ticketek.

Suncorp Stadium doesn't have anything to do with the individual ticket prices. They get a fee from the hirer of the stadium (in this case, the Broncos) who then sell their tickets.

And Stadiums Queensland are the mob who set the ridiculous food and drink prices.

Re: BRONCOS HOME GAMES As far as I know Channel 9 decide who plays when. When Chann

BRONCOS HOME GAMES.

I think it's about time the Broncos listen to the fans. I have spoken to a lot of people in and out of the games about "Home Games". Most of all the people I spoke to would like to see more Saturday and Sunday afternoon home games. All we have this year is Friday night and Monday night home games. And it's all because of TV rights. Who gives a stuff about TV rights? We live here, we are more flexible than that. Nothing beats a Sunday arvo at the footy. Makes for a great weekend.

I think you are missing the point... in the current arrangement the TV deal is $$ value is maximized by allowing Ch 9 to schedule the games and hence a high rating side like broncos are regulars on Friday nights... by taking away Ch9's freedom of choice and scheduling Sunday games would reduce the NRL's bargaining position and it is likely that this would end in a reduced TV deal... reduced TV deal = reduced grants to clubs... reduced grants to clubs = clubs needing to increase other revenue streams to make ends meet... a likely way to increase revenue to cover the gap would be increased seat prices...

Just on family orientated football . Why is it necessary to attend the top tier football with the kids ? I know they see the stars on tv and want to see them live but the feel of the game is not really present in Suncorp Stadium. It is present though at the regional venues where we have places for the little ones to run around kicking a ball and sitting on grassed banks on a winters afternoon . It is way more relaxed and totally suited to families and tight budgets. Todays mainline attractions are targeted at a predominantly adult audiences and that's no different worldwide . I think we have to live with that reality and if we want to take the kids to the top level we must be prepared to pay the price.

isnt the argument re "kids to the footy" just that sundays are better and easier for families to organise?

Yes. Sunday is a better day and much friendlier for a family day. I was only saying top shelf games won't accommodate the family unit as a priority anymore, it's not that it wouldn't be nice ,just not a reality in the modern era. Maybe if the Broncs lose their pulling power then it may occur more often but I doubt that will happen if the Broncs remain the only team in town and continue to be the well run club they are.

I didn't take my kids to one game last year and its gonna take some effort to do it this year. Basically its easier for me to stay over in Brisbane ( from the Gold Coast!! ) than it is to organise kids after school and catch the train there and back on a friday night. They end up in bed way too late and I live to regret it by sunday. My Mrs wants to get them titans memberships which are free with a paying adult and start taking them there instead.

Well I would hope you aren't that bad of a parent that you would force them to watch Titans games.

Catching trains from the Gold Coast to Brisbane isn't hard, mate. We did it all the time in 2011, went to every Broncos home game.

Agreed, I live in Coomera, regardless of going to Robina or Brissy its really not that hard and I have gone with my nieces and nephew to both stadiums on a friday night and it's really not that difficult.

I can't wait till the Springfield train line is complete. Will make going to the footy a fair bit easier for me.
