Same can be said for every squad in the nrl. There are all spending around the cap so it's likely to be the same for Melbourne. They'd have players not in first grade earning, soaking up cash.

Players 27-30 only have to be on $72,500. That goes up $2500 pa as per the EBA.

1-26 have to be on a minimum $105,000 so if the CM believe Paix is number 26 he can't be on $85,000.

All those guys from Fensom to Paix have to be on at least $105,000.

If player agents want to tell their players don't leave Brisbane for Sydney unless we can get $100k more isn't that a good thing for the Broncos?

I am 100% sure that would happen, if I was weighing up leaving home and the Broncos for Sydney I would want at least 100k more.

Thinking forward.....without any complete inside fact, only rumours. If the Boyd was to retire this year/next year, Macca also and Milf re negotiated we could claw back 1-1.2m, to then disperse to others.

I currently dont see a need for a single player on 1m, only because of the squad we have. If they are all sincerely in it for each other to get a premiership it will be hard for one guy to say hes worth more than some others and not have an ego. Sure on the open market theres a few that will fetch 1m, but buying in together will make for much better career.

I know that going to 800k from 1m would not hurt my lifestyle. Hell if you cant generate a good future and lifestyle on 500k a year then something is wrong.
