He wants to be coached by the mastercoach until he retires. Obviously wants to get as much knowledge from him in his formative NRL years as he can before Bennett retires, that's why he came here. How could anyone blame him? He came to the club in good faith that Bennett would be coaching him, if Bennett is forced out at the end of this year why should he show the Broncos any loyalty?

Wayne is a grandpa figure though. Tpj can always call or even face time pops if he needs advice. There's no need to follow him everywhere. Surely.

You mean unless Wayne goes to another team - then he'll be their best forward. I think my point is pretty clear, if he leaves and follows Wayne, so be it. I'd prefer he commit to the club and life beyond Wayne here. If keeping Wayne on another year is what the club has to do to keep TPJ, even if they would prefer not to, I think they should.

Scenario A) Wayne gets sacked the day after our season ends
Scenario B) White gets sacked and Wayne gets a lifetime contract at the Broncos, allowing him the option to transition in to a Coaching Director / General Manager role when he decides he's done with coaching

Yeah, I totally understand the club moving in a different direction for 2020, Wayne can't coach forever. I'm more than okay with that as long Wayne gets to finish his contract. He's still an excellent coach, the following weeks will prove that. There's no need to boot him a year early for no reason other than politics.

Seibold is available in 2020, Wayne's contract finishes next year. We'll also get a better idea of how he goes as a first grade coach in his second year. Looks good to me.

This. It's so fucking simple. Let Bennett finish out his contract with dignity and respect, meanwhile retaining the players who are loyal to him and having a whole year to find the best coaching option for 2020.

The other option is to punt him now, get stuck with a numpty coach in 2019 and potentially lose a lot of good players in the process.

I'd say that was the plan but Bennett wants the extra year 2020, you give him the extra year and miss out on Seibold cause he isn't just going to sit around waiting.

They want to get the best coach they can, not the best coach available when Bennett chucks it in.
