I would be more than happy for Jordy to go to the cows because he deserves to have a starting spot if he can get it, very few players deserve it more than him.

Having said that is this happens we need to be paying nothing to facilitate this. The cows need him and he would be fantastic depth for us and the first guy in for any injury to our backline. It makes no sense for us to be paying anything.

From what I have seen of Staggs he needs to improve his defence quite considerably if he wants to make it in the NRL. I saw games last year in the ISC comp where he missed two or three tackles in a row on a regular basis. His attack looked great though.

I think one game for Redcliffe he missed something like 80% of his tackles. Don't think his defence is generally that bad, but it will improve.
 
He is a good guy if he chases the money that’s fine I’m happy for him.
 
Who will fill the spot in our top 30?
Perese, Kennar, could Farnworth be a dark horse if he stands out in our trial?

If Kahu goes North, Kennar is a lock in for the backline depth
 
i wouldn't be so quick to discount Perese, having followed both games - i think he a much better prospect than Kennar (although, completely different style of player)

Brisbane have staved off a poaching raid for one of the code’s next forward superstars with young gun Pat Carrigan rejecting a $1 million bid from the Bulldogs in his quest to be a 10-year Bronco.
Carrigan will make his senior Broncos debut on Saturday night in a trial against Souths Logan at Warwick and is rated Brisbane’s next ironman in the mould of Origin hardmen Josh McGuire and Corey Parker.
Such is Brisbane’s regard for Carrigan, the Broncos moved to retain the 21-year-old to replace Cowboys recruit McGuire when three NRL rivals - Canberra, Newcastle and Canterbury - targeted the young gun over summer.
The Bulldogs went hard for the Queensland under-20s skipper, with club legend Chris Anderson flying to Brisbane last year to meet with Carrigan armed with a lucrative three-year NRL contract.

When chief enforcer David Klemmer quit the Bulldogs, Canterbury upped the ante to poach Carrigan, but Brisbane delivered an emphatic riposte, securing the forward sensation to an upgraded deal until the end of 2022.
Broncos legend Darren Lockyer believes Carrigan can be the discovery of 2019 and the Junior Kangaroos star has rocketed into contention for the NRL season-opener against Melbourne _ starting on Saturday in his Brisbane baptism.
Leading NRL coaches Nathan Brown, Ricky Stuart and Dean Pay all liked the look of Carrigan, but the 104kg workhorse is determined to be part of Brisbane’s next generation hungry for another Broncos title.
“The Bulldogs went really hard for Pat,” said his agent Jeff Jurotte.
“We received interest from several NRL clubs but Canterbury led the way. They flew up and had meetings with Pat and myself, we spoke for about four or five hours and they were really determined to get him.

“I was up front with the Broncos _ I said there is a good offer from the Bulldogs on the table.
“But Pat said, ‘It’s not all about the money, I want to back myself and make it here at the Broncos, I want to play for the club for the next 10 years’.
“He is the most mature, dedicated young player I have ever seen.
“Pat is a born leader. He was school captain at Gregory Terrace, he captained the Queensland under-20s last year and he can be a future captain of the Broncos.”
In his maiden year in the Intrust Super Cup last season, Carrigan excelled against hardened bookends. The Wynnum Manly rookie averaged 67 minutes, 148 metres and 35 tackles per game _ the type of numbers synonymous with former Broncos hardmen McGuire and Parker.

Brisbane assistant coach Kurt Richards, who will take charge of the Baby Broncos in Warwick, confirmed Carrigan is pushing for an NRL debut in round one against the Storm.
“Certainly that is one of Patty’s goals (to play NRL this year),” Richards said.
“We see him as someone that can fill a hole for us. He has a few things to work on, but he’s a great talent and this game is a good chance for him.
“With Josh McGuire moving on, the young guys like Pat have an opportunity now.
“He reminds me of Jai Arrow (Titans’ Origin forward) with his workrate and effort and what he brings in that regard.
“Once he fixes the little things, he has the effort areas to be a very good player.”

I get the value of experience but we have a special group of young men in our squad and normal thinking doesn’t apply to them. I would be happy with a bench of Haas, Carrigan, Fifita and Staggs. They are better players than the older heads in the squad.
 
Paix models game on Cronk in bid to break into NRL

Broncos halfback Cory Paix has modelled his game on Cooper Cronk but it was a surprise stint at hooker for the Queensland under 18s last year that has given him an extra string to his bow as he prepares to come off the bench in the club's first trial on Saturday.
The 19-year-old had not trained at hooker before Queensland under 18s coach Kurt Richards, also a Broncos assistant, played him there against NSW last year.
Now Paix, who will play against Souths-Logan in Warwick, is training on occasions at hooker for Brisbane as he adds utility value to his game, a scenario that has been a great benefit to St George Illawarra half Ben Hunt at representative level.
"I am contracted to the Broncos until 2020 and half is my strong suit but when I train at nine I am going to take it all in because who knows, in the future it could be my position," Paix told NRL.com.
"That week before Origin last year was the first time I'd trained at hooker. It was definitely a great investment in my future.
"Kurt had called me in and said I wasn't playing my preferred position but it didn't worry me because it was a Queensland jersey, so I went out and had a red hot crack."
Paix will get an opportunity to play in the halves in the Intrust Super Cup this year.
"You never want to throw him in at nine now and pigeonhole him there because his position growing up has been half, but having that ability and the skill set to play at nine gives Cory the opportunity to grow," Richards, who will coach the Broncos on Saturday night, said.
"His dream is to get to the NRL so the more positions he can play the better.
"Cory is a competitor and likes structure, and he's developing some really good habits as we work on his individual skill set. You watch us train and he is one of the last to leave."
It is Cronk's style that Paix most wants to emulate, and he has the work ethic to go with it.
"As a younger guy I've watched a lot of Cooper Cronk and I love the way he plays. He's a very precise player and very structured and has great chat amongst the boys," Paix said.
"Over the years I have done a lot of work with Kurt Richards and he's provided a massive stepping stone for me. He's made little tweaks to my game, made me keep at it and realise that what you do through the week will affect how you play in a game"
Paix was rewarded for that hard work recently when he wore the Broncos jersey at training, given to the club's best trainers for the week, a privilege he deemed "a great honour".
Brisbane will field four halves on Saturday night with Tom Dearden, Troy Dargan and Tanah Boyd in the squad.
The presence of 18-year-old Boyd keeps the fire in Paix's belly burning.
Opponents as youngsters, they became teammates in Queensland rep sides and recently attended the Maroons Emerging Origin Under 20s camp.
"We were roomies back in the day from the Queensland 16s and are really good mates," Paix said.
"Being together at the Broncos is a really good driver for both of us. We both want the same things and we are going to keep at it.
"I'm on a rookie contract and for now I am still in the learning stages so it is all about developing."
And if Paix gets the chance to play hooker any time soon he vowed he would be ready.
"If I am playing nine it will always be about great service to my half and being on all the time in defence," he said.
"That 18s game last year was the toughest game I've played in my life. I take my hat off to all the hookers."

We also have the next Parker (Carrigan) the next JT (Deardon) the next Webcke (Flegler) the next SBW (Su'a) the next Smith (McCullough, although we are still waiting for him to live up to that, lol)

anyone have any idea why the kids today are getting big heads
