Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

Glenn has been excellent recently tbf.

Glenn has been great this year, but I think excellent is a bit far. Excellent is top 3 second rowers in the comp, which he isn’t. Top ten I think is fair. Maybe even top five or six on current form.

What is excellent about him is that the difference between his best and worst games is negligible. He’s ultra consistent.

On the flip side, Fifita hasn’t had the chance to prove his consistency yet (but also probably won’t have it at this stage to be fair), but Glenn will never bitch slap Mitchell and then run another 20m like Fifita did on Friday.

It’s a real balancing act, as we need to give Fifita more than 15-20 mins a game, otherwise he’s not going to develop as quickly as he has shown he can (MM, ISC, NRL in the space of a dozen or so games).

I really want Alex Glenn to sign for another year. He's a Broncos champ in my books, never has a bad game, always puts in 100%, ultimate professional on and off the field.

I don't want him gone yet.

I want him to sign another 2. Would love for him to finish a career bronco and hit the 300 club. It's a credit to himself how well he looks after his body. He is one of the most in shape players in the team, and i recall a few years ago set a couple pull up records etc. The guy is ripped, fit, and always puts effort in.

I know there are a lot of Gillett supporters here, but i'd be cutting his minutes before Glenns on current form. Sua, well He hasn't been great at all and has clearly slid down the pecking order. Gillett is our Mitch Aubusson. Perhaps not the best player in the club in any position, but easily one of the most consistent and someone you can count on to do the Job in multiple positions if required.

Gillett has actually been taken a lot more hit ups in our own end and running with a lot more intent than in previous seasons. He dropped a sitter which was disappointing, but it’s nice to see him getting a bit of space to run into. But he’s still a mostly defensive player at the moment.

Glenn has played better the last couple of games, a couple of half-breaks. Still needs a proper ‘he’s back’ game imo

Glenn's attack wad good, but he missed a whopping 9 tackles (+1 ineffective).

We were lucky that Chrichton seems to kill a lot of attacking plays.

The Cowboys are close to snaring young halfback Sean O’Sullivan from the Broncos.
After making his debut at the Roosters last year, O’Sullivan moved north this year hoping to make the Broncos halfback spot his own.
But he has lost out to rookie Tom Dearden and has requested a release from his contract.
The Cowboys have had problems with the five-eighth spot since Johnathan Thurston’s retirement and 20-year-old O’Sullivan could be the answer.
Jake Clifford struggled at No.6 earlier in the season and prop John Asiata has been shifted there in a stop-gap measure by desperate coach Paul Green.

I'm pleased for Paix. I get the feeling after watching the highlight reels that Tanah Boyd is the next big thing. When he will be NRL ready though I'm not sure.

I'd love to talk to his agent.... Shows real comitement.
At the end of the day he is 1 injury away from a starting spot, just like he was at the start of the year... I get why he's frustrated but surely this level of commitment shows why he will probably never make it as a full time half back option

That's a strange move by the Cowboys. In fact, the way they've treated Jake Clifford has been extremely strange this season, almost like Green was pressured into playing him against his will. Green believes Martin/Morgan is the best halves combination at the club but injuries and roster management has prevented him from being able to invest into it. When he gave Clifford the opportunity, I found it odd how he didn't protect him in the post match press conference and almost came off as bitter that he had to play in the first grade side. I thought maybe Green saw him as a long term prospect and wanted him to develop his game in the ISC but this signing suggests he may not even have a place in the squad.

Then again, I found the signing really odd for the Broncos. O'Sullivan played first grade last year for Sydney, but it's worth mentioning that they weren't prepared to play him in a Grand Final despite the serious injury to Cronk. O'Sullivan was always going to have to develop his game in the ISC, when the Broncos desperately needed somebody who could play 7 in the interim if Kodi didn't work out.

I look at Melbourne and how they manage their roster. They tend to stockpile good talent in all major positions with a view of having one prospect and one player who can fill the spot if an injury occurs. With Brisbane, particularly in the halves it seems like they're all prospects and they don't have those players that can be called onto do a job.

For mine, the jury is out on O'Sullivan. I wasn't convinced by his form when he was playing lower grades at the Roosters and while he's improved at Norths, it's clear that he's behind Dearden who the club genuinely rates as a potential superstar of the competition. I'm not convinced on that either, but that's only because I've only seen him dominate high school footy, it's just way too early to call.

IF we continue to play like we did against the Roosters (which I believe is us simply playing to our potential), I think we have the balance of our team and squad pretty bang on for the immediate future at least.

So I hope we aren’t really looking at anyone at the moment, unless of course his surname is Ponga and he’s currently playing fullback for the Knights.

I guess what I’m saying is; I’m happy with Friday nights team and the performance they turned in, so I want to give them time to see what they’ve got now, particularly now they’ve got some confidence that comes with consecutive wins.

Maybe Seibs has had a word to him, he was a Bennett signing after all. No use hanging out at a dead end when an opportunity might be waiting up north. Good on him for trying to make something of his career. Commitment may not pay the bills especially if you are waiting for a chance that may never come.

100% agree on Green’s handling of Clifford. Its obvious by the way he talks about him that he didn’t want to play him. You could tell Cliffords lacked confidence and Green hasn’t exactly helped. You’d think Green would’ve learnt how to handle juniors after all the recent blunders but I guess not.

Green's development is nothing short of a joke. He has no idea.

Paul Green HATES young talent. I don't believe there was ever genuine interest from us, but if there was, we dodged a gigantic bullet.

He's let Ponga, Kikau, B Smith all go amongst others. Kept Hess, Coote and Granville instead. Absolute numpty.

I really rate Clifford. Future Qld halfback type potential. Just doesn't seem like that chance will come at the Cowboys.
