But honestly, I think we should give this guy a chance. He has been superb in the ISC, why not offer him a contract. Allow him to compete for a first grade spot, play him in a few trials or maybe even the Auckland Nines. This guy has potential.

He is the size of Matt Utai. For all Utai was good in the NRL at scoring tries from powering his way over, he was just as bad letting them in with blokes jumping over the top of him. Look at Taufua and Uate at the moment. All versions of Utai would have been found out in simular fashion. The new winger these days has to be tall to leap for the high bomb.

Exactly.
Even though Vidot was pretty ordinary contesting the high ball this season, i think he'll come good with a bit of work during off/preseason ..... plus maybe shedding a few kgs.

Yeah but, by looking at the footage you can't be certain that he is a liability in defence and Vidot is shocking under the high ball. He would have to beat Lachlan Maranta in the try scoring aspect of the game, Maranta has only scored 12 tries from 42 games

I think people are getting too carried away, I haven't said rush him into the NRL side, or give him 400k a year, just noted a ISC player who has had a good year and played some good football which NRL sides have taken an interest in.
He doesn't have to be the greatest winger ever with no flaws to win a contract, doesn't even have to make your top 25.
For me personally, is a PNG winger that scores 24 tries in 24 games and gets rookie of the year worth a gamble- for sure.
Has be got potential to work with- yep. He's a 21 year old, 100kg winger that is fast and strong. Does he have flaws- of course.
He's the type of athlete player that should have coaches and trainers excited to work with and asking what can I turn this kid into.
He's done well this year, he's sacrficed a lot (as all the Hunters did) moving into their compound and living with each other away from family along with travel.

some news junior for fox reckons barba is heading to manly with brett stewart leaving. now im taking this with a grain of salt unless theres something more solid, but jeez i'd be disappointed if we moved barba on before we got the best out of him. it doesnt really make sense either given barba wants to stay in brisbane, unless bennett really does not want him..

Can't see that happening ... If Barba leaves if will be for the Titans IMO.
Besides just about everyone else in the media seems to think he will be staying at least for 2015
If Bennett does release Barba for 2015 ... take it as a sure sign that Boyd will be on our books (and in a spine position) in 2015

Even if Brett Stewart does leave Manly the Sea Eagles already have their successor in Hiku. If they finally do get some cap space after operating at capacity for the past 5-6 years you'd think it would be to fix their terrible forward pack.
