I'd have to disagree with Hoffman being worse than Barba this year.. Hoffman just isn't a Five-Eighth, the games that Hoffman played at Fullback were all better than Barba's efforts.

I'm still of the opinion that Hoffman would be an elite Centre / Winger, he's majorly overrated in the spine by some teams.

They probably do, or at least did. I think they probably view getting a release for hoffman a lot easier than getting one for matai

Would be a fantastic Centre/Winger but seems to think the position is beneath him.

Hoffman, IMO, is a very solid FB with the right team/players around him. It's not accident that his best season included Lockyer.

Tomkins would be a class 5/8 still, so maybe with Johnson and Tomkins in the halves, Hoffman won't be such a liability in attack, I'd still take Tomkins over Hoffman at fullback every day of week...

Tomkins can be just as dangerous in the 6. He is a liability in defense as a fullback. That said he will be a liability in the defensive line as well. Plus the rumours that Tomkins leaving at the end of next year could be weighing on the Warriors mind. WHo knows maybe the Warriors want to play Hoffman in the centres.

I'm sorry I'm pro Boyd, I despise Hoffman as a fullback to me he is offers so little in attack it's not funny, yes he breaks tackles but is that ever on the way to the try line? Hardly. He's can't run the right lines for a sweep and it's well documented that he is unable to pass. And yes he had a good year in defence but previously he has been the worst defensive fullback in the comp

he will never be fullback again with Milford, hodges and Boyd here so he has to move on unless he wants to stand outside reed then I'm ok with him staying

Overpriced Merrin


Trent Merrin’s asking price of $600,000 is turning away potential bidders.


The Origin forward struggled to even make the Dragons starting line-up for much of the year which is why he was given permission to negotiate with other clubs.


Manly and Cronulla are both keen to talk but not at his current asking price.


The Broncos are also interested - but again, won't pay anywhere near what Merrin is asking.


At his best, Merrin is a player capable of holding his own on the State of Origin stage.


But questions have been asked about his fitness and consistency and he probably needs to lose a few kilos if he wants to attract the big bucks.
