"Effective attack" results in points on the board, rather than a bunch of clopping up the field. Herbie puts on a fine show, but Arthars actually gets it done. I don't consider either of them to be elite centres, but side by side, Arthars is more likely to move the scoreboard. And I'll take points every day over metres.

Arthars has "got it done" a grand total of 3 times this season, with 0 assists.

Walsh for sure. This time last year, Kevvie couldn't see him as a first grader. A year later he's the first player the camera heads towards at the end of a match. He's wasted at the Warriors.

I wonder about Walker. He's obviously a massive talent for his age, but the choice to pursue Dearden instead might not pan out to have been the wrong one. We completely had the measure of Walker last time we met. Not so much Dearden, which I think surprised a lot of folk around these parts.

The best thing Herbie's done this season - along with Oates and Capewell - is to have built a brick wall on that side of the field. But like I keep saying, no matter how good his defence is, no one pays a premium for it. It's like fielding in cricket. It's just a box that gets ticked.

In my opinion, Jesse Arthars is a far more effective attacking centre than Herbie. He'd have put more points on the board for us than Herbie. But he'd also have let more through.

So by my reckoning, use Jesse Arthars as a guide for valuing Herbie.

Arthurs plays right side .
It`s about which arm they prefer to carry the ball in and which foot the can change direction the most effectively off .
Left side ideally you want a left handed carry and a right foot step to get on the outside and fend with the inside arm .

3 yes, that's the sum total that Herbie got in 2021. Arthars got 5. Eye rolling to ensue.

I'm not raving about Arthars, just saying whatever Arthars is worth, that's about Herbie's value too. Maybe a bit more given he's hotter, at least going by the erections that pop up in here whenever he's mentioned.

That said (ignoring the side of the field) for the moment, I'd prefer Farnworth over Arthars, simply because our defence on the left has been decent, and that's at least partly due to Herbie. While Herbie might block balls from other players, Reynolds can cut him out to send the football direct to Oates, and leave Herbie to scavenge balls from kick returns, etc. And that seems to be what he's doing. Oates is managing to score, without relying on Farnworth.

Left centre has to catch a lot of passes with his left hand . Then use the right hand to pass to the winger .
Lots of players struggle to pass long or accurate on their non dominant side .

Catch in the left , pass with the right . Easier to find a right hander to pass right . Than the 10 % of the population who are left handers .

So playing left side is more complicated than it might seem ?

Farnworth is a loss yeah but I think Mariner is going to be the better talent over the next coming years

The issue is we seem to be in a state of perpetually waiting for the next big thing which is still another 2 years away.

Be nice to see us for once follow a real development plan. Let them play through the levels and when they are playing consistently well in Queensland Cup give them a shot.

I think if Herbie leaves Cobbo will be moved over to left center.
