Payne for me has coasted on along at a still good level doing the same things he has always done, using his immense athletic ability to make big meters, but i still feel at the moment that is sometimes a hindrance as he continues to fight for every little meter instead of just getting to the play the ball.Making big meters doesnt always make you the best forward. That last 10 mins against the dragons, as i said at the time, are a glimpse of what we should expect from him in the future. If he can add that on a consistent basis, and add a bit more physicality, we then have the best forward running around in the NRL.I'm not saying he should be running the attack, probably the opposite. I questioned what strings to his bow he had that Haas doesn't.
Pats a much smarter footy player and i think he's far more aware of the bigger picture in games. His ball playing and offloading are more well rounded than Paynes. I think he's worked on his game and improved where he had weaknesses, thats something i havent seen enough of with Payne. He's got more physicality in his game ( thats a big one i think Haas needs to improve on ). He's a big game player who has stepped up to the plate in the biggest arena in our game. He's a better leader.
Away from the playing side he's just a better face and ambassador for the Broncos. He's also better looking and his hair is superior.
