Just because some dimwit makes it up, and it kinda catches on primarily due to the overall dimwittery of the public, that doesn't make it right.
Mam has had a near identical season as Milford did in 2015. An incredible season as a running half with highlight reel tries. All capped off with a superb grand final performance with one hand on the Clive Churchill only to be pipped at the post. Its a strange situation we find ourselves in. There are a host of high profile off contract 5/8s that have hit the market. The only one I can see leaving is potentially Luai but i think deep down he knows hes nothing without a great halfback organising the team. As for Mam and Dearden neither of them have the kicking game to trouble the best teams so they will remain second string halves wherever they end up.
Interested to see what happens. I don't think successful teams should be throwing the kitchen sink at these two players, despite their abilities to run the ball and compete, none of them are worth over $800k.
The market should have players a bit timid getting big contracts too soon. Milford and Ash Taylor are the prime example but there are so many other examples of people who fade away after securing a big contract. Almost always ends their career.Mam has had a near identical season as Milford did in 2015. An incredible season as a running half with highlight reel tries. Now he’s at the Milford crossroads where clubs will throw big money at him and try to make him their main man even though he hasn’t played any rep football. I’m sure he’ll handle it better than Milford did but will be interesting to see how it all unfolds. I don’t think he’s ready for the big bucks yet though.
I think our biggest rivals for Mam will be the dolphins. Cowboys will have their hands full trying to get Dearden to stay and the Titans only want forwards. I don't think he is the type of player that would leave QLD. Piakura on the other hand seems like a mercenary from his last contract negotiations so it will most likely be the highest bidder for himThe thing you can't plan for is a basket case club throwing ridiculous money at players and it could happen with Mam. I doubt it will tbh, I think he will sign but I do think he has offers on the table elsewhere.
Lol Ash Taylor. I remember how he was meant to be the next big thing. The market should have players a bit timid getting big contracts too soon. No we aren’t in a position to be doing that sort of shit.Cowboys are looking to move on Jason Taumalolo and he could be a very handy pick up if Cowboys agree to take up half his contract. We would need to drop a player and Capewell would need to go. But we have Riki and Piakura already to go and could pick up Jason, off the bench or lock.
I wouldn’t be so sure they’re not.The sooner our players are signed up the better.
