We don't need Madden to be a superstar halfback. We just need him to be able to game manage and guide the side around the field as well as provide a good kicking game.

The rest of our side will compensate for the lack of attacking flair.

In saying that, if we do have the opportunity to sign a halfback that will bring attacking flair as well, we would be foolish to not to go for them.

Walker will be that player in the future if he's given a good mentor. Not sure if Cronk has a hands on role with him, but if he does he's learning from one of the best in the NRL era.

I thought I'd just weigh in on the Reynolds succession plan.

I just watched some highlights of the last month of the season when Madden played several games and IMO he showed he has got what it takes to replace Reynolds in a couple of seasons. (re member at this point he has had just one year learning off Reynolds).

As @Super Freak said when you have Walsh and Mam in the spine, you don't need (nor can afford) a flashy Super Star halfback. you need a game manager with a good kicking game.

Gove him 2 more seasons learning off ARey and IMO he'll be a perfect replacement for Reynolds and a great foil for a probable spine of Walsh, Mam and Mozer

I thought he played within himself and under instructions regards the game plan in the cpl of NRL games he played . His tackling was more effective than previously .

I haven't seen a lot of him, but what I have he looked pretty good to me. Comes down to money. Maybe Payne might extend for less if it means having his brother at the club.

I feel really sorry for Brodie. Where the club was when he came to us, and what the club expected of him at that time was disgraceful. We absolutely fucking broke him and it's never sat well with me. You could just see his confidence leaving him a little each game during his time with us.

I'm so happy to see him doing well over in the UK, he was a likeable bloke and he always gave 100%.

Mate he was useless and derped it up in a fantastic storm side with Cameron smith in the team. He sucked. We should never have bought him.

I would be all for it. He hasn’t had much first grade but everything I have seen of him he has looked very good, and if it keeps Payne happy here all the better.

Not sure he's been all that impressive when playing for the titans this year. Had a few standout moments, but I'd say someone like Su'a looked far better when he came onto the scene and he's turned into a solid first grader.

Could still be due to him being young and raw, and may still develop into something... could be worth picking up on a lower tier contract for some back row depth and he may flourish being around Payne, but if someone comes in with a high paying contract I'm not sure I'd want us to be getting into a bidding war for him.

Also, I understand salary cap issues, etc but doesn't look good to basically punt him once Haas re-signs with us. Comes across as, well we didn't actually get what we want, which is your bro, so see ya.

Jojo is Dave’s second cousin, but with islanders/descent of they’re basically considered brothers I guess

I’m pretty sure you are right, pretty sure it was Haas being spoken about and this is why we would not want to get in a bidding war over him but if he’s willing come for minimum wage, he’d be ok depth because as @BroncsFan said, we have three second rowers currently and all of them are free to sign elsewhere in two weeks time.
