Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2024

Nah he does a little bit of work. Whoever it was, Titans fans were pointing out he made like one tackle and zero runs in 27 minutes one game, something like that.
I wouldn’t give much credence to what most Titans fans think, I think most of them think they should get more points for a touchdown than a try. The Don seems to be the only fan of theirs that actually know the game.

I would have to go back and look at the stats but just based on my memory I thought he was fine. Due to SVRL I tend to look at runs and tackles more than most and I remember not picking him up on waivers and regretting for at least one game because he got a try and and a ‘forward try’ (30+ tackles or 14 runs for 120+ metres).

I certainly wouldn’t get into a bidding war but Titans fans thought Jesse Arthars was shit so I don’t put much stock into anything they say.

Jojo is Dave’s second cousin, but with islanders/descent of they’re basically considered brothers I guess

Thinking of Tino’s brother Iszac maybe?
It's a big No from me for Jojo, he has horrible defence and is terrible under the high ball. There's a reason he got dropped from 1st grade.

I did have him in SVRL... And in the weeks he started he was closer to your Capewell style SR than your Fifita style SR.

I.e. typically low runs / meters ... But high tackles

The broncos attack isn't second row heavy. None of our second rowers really make high metres or are the point of attack.

Our second rowers role seems to be more on the defensive side of things, keeping our edges together.

This is why I wouldn't blow our budget on a second rower.

Just our future 7 doing his thing:

Ideal 7 to have when you have Mam and Walsh in the Spine imo.

To be fair, this is the exact opposite of what we need from a half. We already have this from Mam and Walsh.

We need a cool head, composure, controlled kicking game, and an ability to read the flow of the game and know where and when to target the opposition to wear them down. Super League has such poor defence that you don't need a controlling half to break the opposition down. You're not going to see that in a YouTube highlights reel.

If we are seriously looking into the future, then I believe Sam Walker is the player we should be truely trying to secure. We could give Reynolds 2 more years and use his money to go after Sam Walker once November comes around in 2025.

Sam Walker is a 6, IMO. He is a horrid defender, and is all about the flashy plays. Brisbane need a game manager, although they don't really exist anymore in kids born after 2000.

Cant have superstars in every position... we're not the rorters

If Sam Walker lives up to the hype he'll end up wanting big money... Walsh will definitely be getting a pay bump and Ezra could be looking at more money even after this next potential upgrade.

We've also got Payne on +$1m now.

Then you've got Mozer coming through in the future... who we're all hoping will become a good player for us.

I think with the kind of strike that we have across the park that just having a steady 7 whose best asset is a kicking game becomes about as much as we need.

Even a Fogarty would be handy moving forward... isnt going to break the bank, but is happy to get the team around the park and provide kicking.

As long as Walsh continues to improve, he'll become our game winner... he just needs someone to give him the ball and kick it on last... even then he might be able to take over the kicking in the future

I agree, we just need a halfback that can get us around the park and be a calming influence on the spine for a couple/a few years.

Then we can allow Coby Black to hopefully develop into our long term 7 at his own pace.

depending on how madden comes along and how long arey plays on could walters do a job for a season or two?

Madden hasn't impressed me with the short amount of time of time I've seen of him in the NRL. I am not sure of his game play in Qcup. I think we should look outside of our top 30 after Reynolds retires.

Maybe, I haven't seen much of him in the halves, but he has shown a decent kicking out of dummy half.

The hope is that Madden can continue to development into the player we need him to be at 7, but according to 1910 he still has some work to do.

I think the last resort would be to move Walters into the halfback role.

Reigning Man of Steel, Brodie Croft has implanted an escape clause in his brand new three year contract with new club Leeds so he can return to the Broncos when Adam Reynolds retires.

Chris Orr:

“Brodie has some NRL clauses in his Leeds deal. With the abundance of NRL halfbacks coming towards the end of their contracts for 2024, who knows, Brodie Croft could still one day come back to the NRL. All the best halfbacks in the NRL are aged 28-plus. With the experience Brodie has gathered and the form he is in ... from what I have seen in the current market, Brodie has a lot to offer an NRL club. He is certainly keen to come back one day but it is all based around opportunity and what's the right opportunity.”
