We dont need more middle forwards, we have plenty capable of stepping up in that department. Man watching Herbie for England reminded me of just how good he is - we seriously screwed up not retaining him. Mariner has the potential physically to be as good but I don't think he has the footy brain Herbie does. Herbie is a legit gun.

Also hearing some whispers about Cam McInness. Madge loves him too.

Cam McInnes would be a weird pick up to be honest. I'm not totally against it, but would that mean Carrigan goes to prop or second row?

Smoothy, Paix or Walters could play a similar role to McInnes if it was built into the game plan imo. Staggs could even possibly be rotated into the middle to spell them, which would allow for a utility back on the bench as well.

Good in theory but you need someone to pick them up and then replace with three base wagers anyway, so not sure how much you'd actually save with them given none of them are exactly in demand.

Herbie had to grow a footy brain. I remember when he tried to drag a tackled player into touch and we copped a penalty. It was those kinds of footy smarts that made me wish we had someone else. Oh how wrong I was about herbie back then. Gives me hope that Mariner can drop the dope act and grow a brain too!
