Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2025

A thought. Or maybe I am misunderstanding. If Ben Hunts 2nd year would be off the cap, because he will have a job with Broncos after..... Would Adam Reynolds not be in that position this year,If this is his last year. He also apparently has a job with the club after footy.🤔. Hunts money for this year????

His football money isn’t off the cap, the career salary is off. So if the Broncis are going to pay Hunt 200k a year to be a kick coach in 2027. That’s not on the cap but his 650k to play football is included.

So uhhh… is that what they’re gonna dooo? 🤨

If we could somehow get Kobe to transfer his defensive starch to second-row, that would be amazing.
I think Kobe is a bit small to have playing in the middle the entire time. I think he offers more attacking opportunity than what Riki does. So seeing how he goes with training and trials is worth it.

Apparently Reynolds basically confirmed the Hunt move this arvo, discussing Trent Barrett working out how the halves combination will work with him & Ben.

I think you're probably heading along the right line of thinking... however I don't really understand where it's come from at all.

My only thought is that the $100k you identify gets added to the cap for 2027?? so you might be able to offset a payment from the last year because you're giving them a job the following year... but it really doesn't make sense, because this is something they used to crackdown on.

Tigers got in big trouble when a post-footy job was included in Farah's contract... and then Bunnies also had to include GI's wage in their cap after he was employed by the Bunnies the year after he retired... so it's weird that this rule has suddenly appeared out of nowhere, unless it's something that the RLPA pushed for to improve careers for players after footy.
I don't understand where it's come from either, just trying to make sense of RL journos. Like i said it was just my feeble assumption, like the reasoning for most NRL rules I'm only guessing and doing what I can to make sense of it. It may work out for the Broncos this time so I'm trying to justify it, if it wasn't Broncos then I'd be whinging.

Good point about front loading and adding to the cap 2027, hadn't thought that far ahead lol. If that's the case then that's really no help to us.

From memory the GI club job post footy was something like $700K or close to what he was being paid as a player. Someone with an awesome memory please jump in and correct me if I'm worng but didn't he retire early, then get paid a similar amount for a Souths club job the year after?

I really am excited to see Ben Hunt back at broncos and I do believe that Reynolds would be a great halves partner for Hunt.

Weird choice of words to say “smart assistant coaches”. Why not just coaches?
Watch the interview - the conversation was specifically about the assistant coaches at that point, hence the quote. Reyno said how much he's enjoyed working with all of them and that they are all very intelligent and have each brought something new etc etc.

Our back row depth is terrible and our starting options aren’t good enough in my opinion… Bateman changes that.
Well obviously you don't think it is crazy, so why preface your comment that way?

I agree with you our back row depth is bad and the starters could be better, I just don't see Bateman as the answer.

In my view, a Bateman / Hetho switch benefits the Tigers far more than the Broncos.

Maguire in the interview with Sattler at about 11 minutes in definitely sounds like we are expecting to have Hunt sign.

Tigers got in trouble for not including it- It has to be market value- you can't get 600k for picking up witches' hats and it has to be a clear nominated job description.

Tigers didn't disclose that they were giving Farah 639k for an ambassador role.

Inglis had his off-field role included for 2019 plus his salary up to when he retired but not his off-field job in 2020.
