Back rowers worry me, there's really not much great on the market. I have a feeling Cobbo is gone, which is ok to me.
Yeah you’d probably persevere with Piakura and hope he gets better with experience. I’d be keen to move Cobbo on and try and find a decent experienced second row option that can move Riki to the bench

Agreed.

Does Women’s Day still exist? If so, why don’t you send this in, I imagine they might even offer you 50 cents for the scoop.
Or women’s monthly as Richie says on The 12th man Boned album.

If Piakura get keep his involvement up in the game like last Saturday night......definitely worth pursuing with. I think thats the busiest I've seen him in a longtime/ever. Can he do it for more than a couple games a season.......?

He was on a good roll a few weeks back when he started back to back games and played 80mins

Was up over 130m and 30+ tackles both times... Madge got too cute with it and dropped him back to the bench for Willison to start.

Luckily Piaks kept the momentum going for this game, but we had a far easier against the tits than we will against most teams... he needs to keep backing it up.

Riki played his best game in a long while the other night .
Ran with more vigor and purpose . Green shoots ?

Jibasaki.

I'm sure it wouldn't take much encouraging for him to sign with us seeing what Maguire has done with Gibasaki.

Of course there is also Difita...that would polarise everyone.

I wonder if Jibasaki is close with some of the squad like Gibasaki is. Didn't Gibasaki come through juniors with Patty/Payne, etc? I know Jiba has always been up north but wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call given how much the team loves Giba

Yeah it was probably the best game I can remember him having in years. Still bombed a try, dropped another. Was easily our least impactful player of the starters

The worst of them, is Haas.

He is actually looking into the large mirror.

Hope he isn't saying, Mirror Mirror on the wall, who has the whitest teeth of all.
Haas only cares about having the whitest shoes.

Jamal Shibasaki, Klese Haas, Harry Walters… who else has a little brother who plays second row

I heard he had signed with them.

That's why I was posting that he was going to the Dogs.

And then he Haas re-signs with us.

Involvement is the key for me not run metres and those around him involvement too. Unless they make a break your second rowers shouldn't be making 170m too often.

Liam Martin is an outstanding example, he made 36m in Game one- but was excellent. His runs get quick play the balls, he attacks their halves, he kills their kickers.

He hasn't made big meters in any Grand Final, 71m, 85m, 155m, 72m and 92m but he plays 80 minutes and is on the ball all the time, ball on the ground Martin is last up getting it.

The forwards around Piakura and Riki were much better on Saturday, Broncos could attack weren't doing stupid work all game and were building sets where they wanted. Piakura and Rikki got to have a "Martin game."

I said weeks ago, get your attack right and your defence works, because you give the ball to them where you want and how you want.

This is such a great point. We really need one of these in our team on the back row. The impact and the way it helps control the game is almost like having an elite half. IMO Cartigan at this stage in his career is a very useful lock, i would like to see some hard nose back rowers, in rotation from the bench to double punch.

THIS WAS VERY INSIGHTFUL!

From about 8.30:
- We have some announcements coming up in the next couple of weeks that people will be excited about
- Its a 24/7 free agency market
- We've been fairly patient, the players have been fairly patient and the agents have been fairly patient
- We've learned a little about what happens in the space around 12-13 months out, it isn't as important as many imply
- Maguire was so important to get because he brings a higher level of professionalism and push for the players and the organisation
- When he became available, getting him was a no brainer and the group has made a lot of progress, albeit not in a straight line
- There is a lot of good work going on behind the scenes and we are putting things in place in the background with our systems to ensure sustainable success, not just here and there
- Selwyn has been struggling a little for a month or so and Karapani was a little immature when we recruited him but he's really stepped up and matured and earned his shot - he's been averaging 200m a game at Q Cup on the wing, he's earned his shot, he smashed the door down and unfortunately someone has to miss out
- Its hard to get a player out of Sydney, if we sign a player out of Penrith for example, they get banned from junior reps, so they have to immediately relocate
- We need to look at this across the board because it makes it unequal, we are susceptible to raids from down south but we can't do the same
- The challenge is always timing, we have a great academy but we can get better
- We haven't won a comp in 20 years, that's not acceptable but we need to work on the top end and bottom end of our systems
