He's a pretty solid defender, but a bloke his size is always going to come off second best against middle forwards. I'd hazard a guess there would be a fair few hookers high up in the missed tackle counts anyway. Stats can be a bit deceptive imo which is why i never read too much into them.

I'm not saying we should sign him, but he is an effort player and i think we could do with a few more of those.
Liam martin a shitter defender if you go by the stats lol api also

I dont think its going to be the Titans but if they can move on somebody like Fifita, then they will open up as an option.

As it stands, i doubt it will be us either unless the Doggies are going to pay a huge part of his contract. We simply dont have the cap space to fit him in.

Or hopefully the desire. He would just be a wrong signing on so many levels.

I just dont necessarily see the point in signing a guy who's best quality is "he's a goer".

Sure the squad could use more of that type of player, but those guys can fill out the squad and lesser roles in the team rather than the starting spine.

I think if we took away that he's one of the most unlikable players going around right now, he's a pretty decent hooker. Not top tier, but pretty effective. I wouldnt say him being a goer is his best quality. He is a team first player and i still do think he's got a lot of things as a team we could benefit from.

Like i said though, i'm not convinced i'd sign him. But if the Doggies picked up half his salary, getting him until the end of his current contract in 2026 on $300k a year would be good value. Teams know the Doggies need to offload players so they arent in the best position.

At this stage eels didn't see the value in out pricing the dogs to keep him (and they had literally zero hookers coming through) and now dogs are trying to get rid of him.

It would seem his value is pretty low, but he's probably not looking for a low priced contract.

I also dont trust our R&R to not get taken for a ride and sign him to a 3yr marquee deal.

If you can get him for like $300k and 12 months then yeah sure take that deal, but he's not going to be looking for a deal that low and that short... not sure our R&R then just move on based on what they've done to date.

From what i know Mahoney was dead set on leaving Parra no matter what.

I think that was because they didn't want to pay him and gave him a lowball offer... so he took the dogs higher offer and now they're trying to get rid of him early.

They offered him about $100k a year less than the doggies offer. He just wanted a change as well i think from what i gather. I think Parra would have needed to offer him a stupid offer like they gave Brown to stay.

From a financial point of view he's probably the most expendable player they have to move on after signing Galvin. He'd be the bloke i'd be pushing towards the door.

I'm just hoping Nth Qld step up to the plate... they literally have no hookers heading into next year.

I'm assuming there is some young gun floating around, but even if they signed Paix that only makes two on the books.

This week without Robson they've named Lawton, with no notable on the bench... so I'm assuming Harrison Edwards is the back up 9 for them this week.

How about the Titans give us Fifita on a heavily subsidized deal and sign Mahoney. Win win for all parties involved (with the exception of Titans fans ofc).

Sign him up Broncos.

Offload Paix and Walters, sign Mahoney.

Mahoney 9, Mozer 14, Hunt roaming lock role off the bench.
