We're apparently the biggest ***** in the world by "low-balling" Cobbo. yet it appears that no-one is interested in him at his current contract value.

Dragons have withdrawn from the race. Cowboys are only interested in him at the right price, with the reports saying he would need to take a sizeable (6 figure) pay cut to get them interested. Dolphins aren't prepared to get near his asking price for a centre / winger.

p.s. Crawley one of the blokes whinging about us not releasing him, was the same bloke who was adamant that the Dragons NOT release Ben Hunt last year
Are the cows only wanting him for 6 months as well??

Seemed like dargs wanted him for this year plus a 12 month contract... but can only recalling cows being talked about this year.

So they only want him because they have a hole in the outside backs

If you're going to sign a player you'd ask around about them and I don't think Cobbo would get a good reference about his training and professionalism.
Kev basically said it without saying it on his podcast that he's a bad trainer. Anasta has heard some things so I'd imagine others have as well. Slater has dropped Cobbo from the QLD side for unknown reasons in the past.

A 1 year deal at 300k at the broncos is probably best for Cobbo's career. His manager and family aren't doing what's best for him if their pushing him elsewhere.
He's got a year to work on himself and work out if he really wants this life or not while still being close to home. Moving away from everything and I doubt he gets through a year.
It's a big risk for any club if your paying 500k+ for him.

That's out of context, they were talking about Cobbo's alleged mental health issues and if he does have issues is holding him to his contract what is best for him or just let him go.

It's never been alleged that Hunt has mental health issues.

Sounds like there's a bunch of off-field stuff going on with Selwyn that everyone knows except us:

You mean like this stuff that was reported on about a week ago, but was ignored by the Sydney media who instead decided to focus on the dollar value of $300k... and then claim broncos don't walk the talk despite looking to work with Cobbo and elders to reignite Selwyn's love for the game.

Nah they're right... send him 1500km north or to the Sydney cesspool, because teams want to use him to fill a hole in the roster created from injuries... that'll fix him.

THIS MASTHEAD is currently "revealing" the club is about to enter "crisis talks" with Selwyn and a bunch of Aboriginal Elders over fears he might chuck in the towel and walk away from the game. They're calling it "Operation Save Selwyn." Presumably from himself.

THIS MASTHEAD reckons they can only afford to pay him around $300k.

Because that's the best thing for a young blokes mental health.. take him away from everything he knows and all his support systems. That's where he'll find his love for the game again and life.

Nikorima may be on outer at Dolphins if they go for English half

Are we interested???
I think he'll have suitors.

Can play five-eight and fullback... so that automatically fills the hybrid spine spot that we've been finding and using as Walsh replacements since TMM.

Could also be a utility off the bench given what he used to do coming on at hooker.

Broncos won't have money to buy him, and I doubt he left on great terms back in 2020.

By the general gist of what we're hearing, Selwyn seems to be a million miles away from the sort of head space that is at bare minimum required to be an NRL footballer, yes especially under Madge but really, it doesn't sound like there are many coaches in the League currently that he could thrive under. Bennett maybe, but I'm starting to think the silence coming out of Souffs is indicative that their cap woes are correct, not just Wayne spin. If he had come up through the Melbourne systems under Bellyache instead of us, the poor bugger would have shattered like a mining magnate's mirror.

If it's a matter of he still loves the game and wants to start again and get himself out of this rut, he needs to bite the bullet, take the unders and go to a low pressure club to flop over the tryline for a couple of years. Get back under the radar and put a pause on being Selwyn Cobbo the rep player.

If Cobbo is having some mental troubles, or struggling to find his love for the game, perhaps a year off and then seeing what suitors he would have the year after wouldn't be the worst thing. It's worked for CHT.

Mal would probably be good for him, but it's a long way from home. But the $$ would be tops and he could play fb.

He has already put a pause on Selwyn the rep player.

I just laugh at walters acting like he he could and did extract the best out of selwyn lol. He was playing just as inconsistently and bad last year but madge has just pulled the trigger and dropped him instead of "resting" him. Cobbo isn't worth $400,000. As witnessed by the lack of offers by other clubs. Why aren't CONEHEAD' baby the titans offering him the delusional money CONEHEAD is talking if he is worth that

I think his career is likely done. Like @Brocko said a year off would probably be his best option though. While it's sad for Cobbo I am encouraged the club didn't re-sign him and has basically replaced him with a much needed polar opposite signing in Anderson.

Latrell Siegwalt off to Rabbits.
