I wonder what the future for Arthars holds. Karapani and Mariner I would think have the wing spots to lose heading in to 2026 with Anderson most likely either first back up or replacing one of these two. I doubt Anderson is being picked over Shibs or Staggs. So where does that leave Arthars? I wonder if he might ask for a release.
Yeah we’ve found ourself in a bit of a weird spot with our backs - even with Cobbo leaving there is a bit of a selection head ache. I just can’t see Anderson coming here and not getting a starting spot - how and where, I have no idea.

I think Karapni may miss out, which is a shame because I really like him

Yeah me too and he brings metres, that's something you need from your wingers now more than ever. I am not sure Arthars or Anderson bring that.

Big no from me... not just because he fleeced us last time he was here, but he looks completely done as a first grader.

Before the injuries set in he had so much potential. His body is just too broken for him to be useful. I guess on the minimum contract for 12 months he could be a useful squad member, but i couldnt see him coming for a contract like that.

I'm thinking ESL should be on the cards... just not sure he can stand up to NRL anymore.

He pretty much peaked in 2016 and has been downhill from that point on

How can anyone think of bringing that absolute ****wit Bird back after the way he bashed the club on his way out?? We stood by him when he was injured 80% of his time here and all he can do is badmouth the club as he's walking out the door, and every chance he's had since?

I'd rather take just about any other ex-player back than that ****ing hack.

Very much agreed. That left a very bad taste in my mouth.

He'd be a bit part player anywhere he goes in the NRL, he cant handle playing week in week out. Not sure he would stand up to the game in England either.

He let the door hit himself on the way out, screw that. He was never worth what we paid him, he has arthritis or some degenerative condition and is only going to get worse. His best is WAY behind him, do not touch.
Reading more into it, apparently he's also managing his training due to his condition. A Madge pre-season would probably finish him off for good. The years he was here are a bit of a blind spot for me spectator wise, I remember him being injured quite often, but sounds like he didn't leave on the best terms?

A hard no for Jack Bird. He’s not even first grade quality these days. The way he accepted a player option only to immediately agitate for a release is weak gutted dog stuff.

Nah he bagged the club for giving up on him on the way out and carried on a bit. Happy he's gone.

Jack Bird has been granted permission to leave the Tigers. At the right price I wouldn't mind bringing him back.
Not to be harsh on your comment as i think i get what type of player you think would be useful in terms of a utility backrower which i don't disagree with but its a very hard no on Jack Bird. It would be like signing Ben Barba or Ashley Taylor...he is pretty much done in the NRL and he didn't contribute enough when here to warrant any good will to get him back on some sort of sense of romance for old times sake.

Bird was arguably our worst ever signing and was possibly the first sign that Wayne was beginning to lose the plot

Yeah he's up there in a select few in the grand final of worst Broncos signings:
- Martin Kennedy (is going to be hard to beat)
- Ben Barba
- Jack Bird
- Matt Lodge
- Motu Tony
- Joel Clinton

All good, I will just add it to my pile of bad takes now I know he didn't leave on good terms.

But yes you are right that was my thinking, I would love for us to sign a game breaking utility back rower type, which funny enough has spawned similar unpopular takes of wanting to sign David Fifita or Valence Te Where.

I think Bird probably wins it to be honest... he came on absolute premium money, which was not warranted, spent basically the whole time injured... took up a player option and then requested the release... and we would've been paying freight when we did release him. Then he bagged the club on the way out

Just all round horrible signing

Most of the other guys on that list weren't on big dollars.. Lodge and Barba were looking to rebuild their careers.

Barba is probably an example of Hook not knowing what he had considering he left us and then won the comp with sharks and was a key piece of that team.

Kennedy was probably like a Fletcher Baker type signing... youngish player on a decent deal trying to prove himself as a first grader. His antics outside football is top tier stupid though.

I can't recall if Tony was a premium signing when we got him, so can't really comment.

Clinton was a shit signing, mostly because it's a reminder of how much the club ****ed up with Petero

Yeah taking the player option then going for a release was scum move.
