Doesn't sound like a player stinking up training.

I took the “always doing things away from the field” to mean , doing things for the community - not training extras.

The whole thing reads a bit more like “he’s a good bloke” than he’s a great trainer.

Performs at training is a pretty ambiguous comment

All this just makes me want to keep Cobbo even less.

Let him walk.. if he wants to pack it up and stop playing altogether then that’s up to him and not a Broncos problem. Frankly I couldn’t care less if he stops playing and I doubt many are all that different.

He’s a second grade winger with neither the talent or mental capacity to be a regular contributor to a top grade squad.

We should have booted him and kept Herbie back when.

Then why was he dropped?
My guess is that he wasn't stinking it up at training because he was either arriving late or not at all. When he was there he was probably fine.
Madge mentioned professionalism and Selwyn has past form of sleeping in.

It's that where Kevvie said he was easy to coach, and that, yeah, he gets a bit homesick? He plays fullback, centre and wing, too. Who else can do that? Well, Herbie, for one. And we all saw what happened there.

And where did Selwyn end up last time he played centre and fullback?
Easy to coach yet the bloke essentially said you were a shit coach.

It's sad to see such wasted talent. Whatever it is with Cobbo isn't going to just disappear by going to Sydney. It will get worse, because right now he can't stay in the game for year. It's been the same since his concussion really in Origin. Maybe he can't stay mentally well when he has niggling injuries. But that's just going to be the case for probably 95% of your career.

I don't know why he decided trucking the ball back was his only option. Looking for heavy contact like a prop was eye catching at first but became dumb after a while.

You could see the impacts started hurting his shoulder? AC joint. Then his wrist went. Yet he was still doing the same.

A guy gifted with beautiful instinctive movement, decides not to use it for what reason? I say this because there is not many people off the top of my head who can 360 out of a bomb catch to avoid contact like he has shown he can.

Some of the stuff he can do is effortless. Then he decides at some point that his thing is running Lang style from the back. Sure he has always had that in his game but not like this year. It's almost like he didn't care what happened to himself. Maybe a sign of not being well mentally. Who knows.

But it didn't appear to be a guy playing for a contract. Or for a pay day. But he has been shopping himself around so obviously was not happy with how things looked contractually going forward with us.

I don't see him being here next year either way and honestly doubt he will get many more years in the NRL.

Both Brisbane and the Rabbits and a couple of other clubs are in talks with the Bulldogs for a release before June 30 for Zyon Maiu'u from the Bulldogs. He was only recruited at the start of the season from the Warriors but is on the outer at Belmore. A young 2nd rower/prop with a heap of potential for sure.

At least we are seeing a pattern with what we are going for. Hard running aggressive middles or edges. It's so simple, yet I reckon the only games we've won this year are when the guys not named haas or carrigan have ran hard, yet they don't most games. Our game depends so much on it.

Got a feeling that they got him over when they believed they had no chance at Leo Thompson, then the relationship soured post signing him. Pretty average NSWcup & even Massey cup stats so it seems to be an issue with his attitude.

I remember a Wahs mate being pretty pissed at losing him at the start of the year though.

Michael Chammas reporting that we are set to extend Karapani for a further 2 years.

furthermore he says that the Dragons are willing to offer Cobbo an 18-month contract. They haven’t made him an offer as yet and want to make sure he is willing to leave Brisbane before tabling him a deal believed to be worth around $600,000 for next year.

He ain't leaving Brisbane for 600k.

Let’s say he goes to the Dragons which is likely, I’m just not sure he will do well there. I get the idea he has struggled a lot being away from home and away from his family so being further away from QLD isn’t going to make it any better for him.

I hope he looks after himself during the off season because as we’ve seen, he has continuously struggled, I fear he’s fighting some inner battles that need to be looked at and I hope he looks at that before leaving QLD.

I do wish him the best though. He’s got some huge potential, but just lacks the drive sometimes.

He also mentioned grant Anderson. Not sure if that’s ever been made official?

The fear of losing these “biggest talents” alone has setup the club backwards for over a decade mate. This club needs more of footy players than talents. Sure, talent is needed in any occupation but without hard work, commitment & dedication, it alone wont get you much farther.

Cobbo has been dropped for the lack of commitment & piss poor performances for Bronx. Having demoted to cup, he should’ve been making adjustments to the way he has played to force himself back to 1st grade again. But I hear that he’s much worse in Q-cup the last couple of weeks. Unlike him, Mariner who’s also dropped has been performing well week in week out.

Any head coach with proper mind will NOT have Cobbo in their 17 currently. Like others had mentioned, I too reckon he’s dealing with something outside of footy & until he resolves it, the game will not see the brilliance of his natural abilities.
