Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

I can't wait for next year membership done. Usally my first game of the season is when we are up against our little bro the cowboys. I got a good feeling this year about this year's squad I hope it comes back next year. Thanks Tiggers sad Madge couldn't train some pussies with some bite. But least he is teaching us how to be stallions

The NRL will want a Smith V Slater storyline in the coaching ranks.

Good for the game if it eventuates.

double agent for Bellyache and leave when Craig goes to the Tits as football director or whatever they’re still trying to do, and he’ll definitely take players with him because ‘oh Cam has been a great mentor and I want to keep learning off him’.

Smith's appointment is a snub to the old boys.
There would have to be a few old boys who would do a great job mentoring but the club has said **** you, You've been overstepping and you don't run the club.
I feel like the old boys are too old school anyway... like it was a "she'll be right" type of attitude.

Super talented players, but you hear a lot of stories about guys being able to cut corners at training because you knew they'd come good on game day.

There were definitely hard workers across the board, but I get a bit tired of the "keep the Ferraris in the garage" type talk.

They were saying that about Staggs, but look at his year when he put the hand up to get in there and do the dirty work... easily his best year in first grade

If I met Cam Smith I would ask him is genuine with us or is he a spy for the storm. I remember correctly we knocked the storm off their number 1 spot with the most fans

It's an interesting development with Smith - I think its pretty obvious we are trying to emulate Melbourne Storm - that is put in place processes and practices that should lead to sustained long-term success and for all the stupid things the storm do and line / rules they push you can't deny they have gotten a lot of sustained success, with Smith being a key pillar of that.

Smith may be a double agent but if you have
- the game's highest point scorer
- who generally gets the rub of the green with media, the NRL and people in general supporting him
- had the best ability to impact referees without getting them up against him
- could influence games he was involved in at every level
- had hunger to keep aiming for more and more success

Then I think having him at the club can have a lot of positives no matter which way you look at it, and is a pretty big get when you are trying to instill that sustained hunger after reaching the top of the mountain this year.

100% agree and **** the old boys.
They threw the toys out of the cot too many times.
Classic case of the tail wagging the dog. I know they're having a sulk about this too but now after the GF win and Smith's cred within the game they would look stupid saying anything.

Staggs back end of the year after the Parra defeat was elite in every way.
Energy, effort, leadership all 10 out of 10.
It was so good to see him step up.
I haven't been his biggest fan because of too many indifferent games and lazy games but certainly changed my mind .

Get the feeling payne haas re-signing will be announced in the next few days. A couple videos/posts about him the last couple days on the broncos socials + every "potential" signings or off contract november 1 guys dont metion him now.

Don't really agree with this as Cam Smith has a great football brain and I'm not sure which old boy would be a better mentor for the likes of Mozer and Bucowski.
Saying that he is a spy for the Storm is just laughable. In Madge I trust..

For anyone worried about Cam being a spy, just posting it again in case you guys have missed it - Cam is just doing once a week leadership mentoring with the leadership group during the preseason.

I don’t think talking to Patty, Haas, and Staggs, probably over Zoom, once a week is going to give Bellyache season defining intel

Madge was an assistant at Melbourne
.He knows CS9 very well . I think some folks are a little paranoid . Would Madge want him if his mission was to white ant the Broncos . I highly doubt it .

I will tell you what, go and listen to Webcke on the Triple M call against the Panthers. He loves this club and was fully behind them. His screams of joy where something to behold, he didn't care how it sounded and instantly after the game said "this team is winning the Grand final". I don't think you would hear that type of talk from guys like him or Tunza.

Gordon CONEHEAD and a few others have the mentality you speak of. You could get away with things like that in the semi professional and early professional times. Plus the Broncos had a lot of real workers including Webcke, Thorn, Berrigans, De Vere, Smith, Plath, Campion and Petro just to name a couple.
Not now, no way no how as these days you end up with Cobbo expecting to sit out mid year every year because Kev allowed it for a couple of seasons. As someone else mentions Staggs is the perfect example of what a guy with a mission looks like.

Smith isn’t a double agent.

He wouldn’t need to join us to get the info he needed.
