Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

That doesn't sound like anything new... those dollars have been around for a month or so now... maybe it's R360 actually putting a contract in front of him, but who really knows much about what that competition is at the moment.

Would be a huge gamble for Haas to sign that as one of the first players... Paps, NAS, RTS, etc. that have been linked are pretty much done in NRL and could move to other union codes if R360 falls over.

Lomax is basically a winger in NRL and that's not where he wants to play... if R360 falls over he'd just go and sign a union deal and earn a shit ton of money in France, Japan wherever and then Wallabies would sign him instantly as well.

Haas isn't really a union player... I'm assuming he'd be an 8, but that would mean he needs to learn the scrums and lineouts, which is not something you just pick up. League forwards have typically been put into inside centre, but even though Haas is an athletic freak I don't think he has the speed to play there in anything other than the proposed mickey mouse R360 comp against park footballers.

R360 also looks like a very short term option for him... go and earn mega dollars for a couple years, then come back to NRL when the new CBA starts up and keep going...but the proposed 10yr ban means if R360 falls over he can't exactly pack up his family and move to French/Japanese Rugby.

Everyone thinks he'd be able to win a court battle to overturn the ban and play again, but then he's using his mega dollars to fight them in court OR he never gets the mega dollars and has to fight the ban anyway... and then on top of that he's wasting a chunk of his career in the courts.

If we're talking 6 months down the track and R360 has actually signed some players and put some actual logistics around the comp then he'd be a risk of jumping, but it seems a huge risk to take before the comp really looks like anything
Haas is one of the faster players at Brisbane .
A few years back he was the quickest at the club over 30 metres .

Long term Haas could be getting 2 million a year for all we know and how the games grows. Leaving suddenly completely blocks this and he'll be know as a deserter.

I doubt the money in league is ever going to hit those levels for a front rower in the next decade. League is a minority sport in the scheme of things. Outside of a small area of England and Australia, it doesnt even hit the radar. I just dont see league ever growing big enough to ever really have huge money.

I Wonder if he will ask khunt or jhayne what happened to their careers after an out there code switch.
There are so, so many examples I cant believe code swapping still gets talked about so often. I get that money talks and an nrl career can end any time with injury but you can hear it in interviews how much they ALL regret it. League players arent welcomed in with open arms in union. Money is bloody important, but when you already rich (like haas is and will be in nrl) then the memories (eg premierships in a real comp with real fans in a game all your friends and family follow and cheer you in or origin) are worth millions.

I think the salary cap has almost doubled over the last 10 years. With forwards already on $1m+, $2m isn't out of reach - especially with the new broadcasting deal.

Not for as much though. Tino is good, but not Hass money good - Titans have overpaid him.
That’s true! We do have some good forwards too. But If Payne does leave I reckon the club will want to replace him with another big name so wouldn’t be surprised if they paid overs for Tino

Unless you can play for the ABs like SBW and Thorn or England/ the Lions like Teo then the only motivator for playing Union is money no matter what spin they put on it. The wallabies suck and are a national joke, the pacific nations suck, and only a three or four nations (South Africa, nz, France, England) can conceivably win the wc (in reality its going to be nz or South Africa).

I can understand and respect someone like Thorn achieving everything in league and then playing for the All Blacks or Teo playing for the Lions, but they are rare exceptions to the rule. It feels like all the converts to the Wallabies have just wasted their careers - look at Folau for example

With losing Haas a big possibility, then we should try strong for big Tino especially if he will take bit under for a premiership.

I think the bigger call is banning player managers.

If Haas goes then old mate Mr. Prestige Worldwide would be banned as well... so he'll have to go off to court to overturn it.

I don't know how many clients he has in the NRL, but someone like Isaac Moses has a bit more of a stake if one of his players goes.
Lol, prestige world wide got me good.

In all serious though, given their previous fumbling of his contract, I would not trust his mob to have done their due diligence to investigate the investors, sustainability of the league, and its operational logistics.

The higher coin is due to the inherent risks involved. I would hate to see his career impacted because of a short sighted, ill informed money driven decision.

When we all booed him at that Titans game in 2022, he deserved that.

Now he's achieved a premiership here. We love him forever (or until he becomes some media guy post career that talks shit about us). Please stay, but if not, get your bag bro.

Are Mike Tindall and the Royal Family funding this R360 shitshow independently? They are yet to spruik any genuine and significant investors, which you'd think they'd be doing by now if they had them in an attempt to get big name players actually keen.

Otherwise I would be worried about the cheques actually clearing.

Prince Andrew says trust me.

1990 it was 800k-1.5 million depending on your financial situation.

800k now wouldn't even get you one star player.

Ahmad Merhl only has Payne but his mate Tyran Smith at the same agency has 12 players.

If he goes he goes. He is a freak absolutely, but with his price tag you can pick up two quality props. I obviously want him to play on here but he is honestly a luxury, that no other club in the league remotely has or will have if he goes to 360.

Everyone can go.....!
we got a premiership...! After 2 losses that were so painful!
I live off this one.. and the whole finals like a camel for 19 more years if I have to.
It's funny how a premiership can change perceptions in a minute.

I'm sure panthers are fine with guys like Luai, Kiks, Api, etc. leaving to chase dollars, because they got their premiership.

For us someone like Kobe got to win a premiership before heading off, so it doesn't hurt losing him... it's more thanks now go get your cash.

Whereas somewhere like Manly... their fans would be fuming at the club if Turbo left... it basically means any chance of a premiership is gone if they left and the club is going nowhere

But Reece is not allowed to leave... just like Panthers fans would be ropable if Cleary left.

Its gone up a fair bit, but i do think it will plateau out a bit now. I just dont think there is enough money in League worldwide, let alone Australia to sustain it. I cant stand Union, its so bloody boring but its got a bigger worldwide audience than League does, so the potential for bigger earnings there is going to be a factor.

I'm still not overly convinced Payne is going to be the level in Union though he is in League. He's no Brad Thorn, or Jason Robinson or Jonathan Davies who switched effortlessly to different codes. He's more likely to be Sam Burgess imo.

I would never pay a forward (even Hass) that much under this current cap. Won't win anymore comps ruining our cap like that.
I said the same thing as few years ago. No props worth that etc.

He aint a prop. He aint even human.. pay him whatever we can afford and hope to hell his family keeps him here.
