Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Don't think Deine's injuries are JYY level.

The docs are confident he will play again. They weren't as confident with JYY, I don't think. His fracture was pretty ****ing gruesome and I believe still affects him to this day.

Which would have to be a worry for that Parra player from earlier this year.

Which is why Perth shouldn’t have a team or if they do we should never have to play there.

Bishop is extended until 2028 unfortunately. I think Laban and most of the rest are until 2029. At some point they have absolutely no hope at keeping them all.
Are you joking me!!? I just checked their young forward contracts - what greedy bastards they are. All locked in long term. How can they afford to stack like that?

Bishop Neal - 2028
Leka Halasima - 2029
Jacob Laban - 2029
Demitric Vaimauga - 2028
Eddie Ieremia-Toeava - 2028
Morgan Gannon - 2028
Erin Clarke - 2029
Tanner Stowers Smith - 2028
Jason Salalio - 2028
Kayliss Fatialofa - 2027

All home grown pathways players, just bought the one pom in Gannon.

If we can't grab Bishop Neal then Kayliss Fatialofa looks getable. Ivan and the Panthers wanted him for this year but the Warriors convinced him to back out in the cooling period. They still haven't given him any NRL time. Absolute Gun player blocked by Leka Halasima, Laban and Gannon... and plus they will need to fit Neal in there too soon, so his prospects still look grim at the Warriors. I think he could be every bit as good as Halasima and should be playing NRL every week. Modern explosive 2nd rower and can cover Staggs when he plays Origin or is injured. Would destroy teams in our pack. Probably would be the fastest forward in the NRL when he plays.

Id also be enquiring immediately about Rodney Tuipolotu-Vea 'The RTV' - He is a tank, must only be on a development deal there.

Warriors were keen on Verhoeven. Would we be willing to trade him for a couple of gun young forwards? They will lose some of these guys into the future so why not trade up with them now.

It's super smart from the Wahs to lock in all those young forwards long term. Somebody at the club saw where the game was going, and they are well stocked now through until new tv deal and new cap and have a stockpile of the perfect forwards for current day league.

Interesting. Thanks for the info @MRGoTO

Are we seeing the fruits of what Gus Gould set up at the Wahs? Similar to what he did at Penrith?
Albeit he was only there for a year or just over..

I have followed the Panthers systems for years and it's starting to look that way. Let's not forget that they do have an entire nation to themselves to choose from but I'm concerned we are seeing a super club being built here where I was hoping that it would be us. The extra QLD NRL sides have hurt us and the Warriors also choose NSW cup over QLD cup to develop their kids which is the stronger comp. The bastards also set up an academy in Logan where any cream that rises to the top gets sent to Auckland instead of us!

I was reading that the Warriors are stacking so much young talent that the All Blacks are even being hurt by it with upwards of 200+ kids signed on the Warriors books who would normally be in their system.

The Warriors are pretty ruthless with their kids now too. Sink or Swim. You sink when given your opportunity then you may have to wait for the next couple of young guys to fail before you get your shot again in NSW cup or NRL. They used to tolerate a lot of poor players taking up their cap.

We have a pretty good relationship with them, Reece Walsh, Mitch Barnett and Grant Anderson. My understanding is the Warriors much prefer us than the Dolphins (Their recruitment guy screwing them) and Cowboys (Payton screwing them over)for example. I would be hoping we keep on great terms with them and have first dibs on some potential trades/conversations that goes our way.

I think the Panthers have a similar set up with them - Warriors grabbing Webster and Fisher-Harris and Panthers taking a bunch of their discards recently with Lussick, Moimoi, Going and Crosby.

Interestingly though, where is our pipeline players? We've got some good backs coming through but where are the forwards? Obviously Redcliffe picked out some of them but the cupboard looks pretty bare, particularly in the forwards.

I mean are some really young ones coming through but the ready to go are few and far between:

Gun prospects
Verhoeven (Centre)
Poates (Winger - but probably off to the Chiefs)
Francis (Middle)
Tavita-Harris (Half)
Bukowski (Hooker)

Good prospects
Bryce (Second-Rower)
Poese (Back)
Tupuse (Back)

One middle (Semu is great too if you want to count him given he's just starting out) and one second-rower. That's it. That's massively concerning.

We have a gun prop/second rower coming through called Marley Igasan. I am pretty confident he will play NRL at the Broncos. Has a ton of mongrel and can play prop and edge. It wIll be good to get this kid training along side Mitch Barnett next year.

Truly a wild decision from Luke Metcalf to bail on playing behind these genetic superiors for **checks notes** the ****ing Dragons and Blake Lawrie :rofl
