Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Damn he is so good. Those touches in a few QLD tries reminded me of some old school QLD forwards like Darren and Jason Smith. And he's tough af

Even more annoying that he was signed for peanuts while we were too busy throwing cash at Piakura and Riki.

Well as I say all the time, I don’t watch the NRL so all this about Cobbo might be true, I have no idea. All I know is he was making me cry last night seeing him pitch it all together.

Makes me think of Gagai, you put up with them for so long and then they finally come good after they leave. It’s the rocket they need but just sucks to see someone else benefit.

You'd still be crying if he was with us ... Just for a different reason 😝

What is it with this Forum an it's obsession over seeing any injury prone has been or mid quality never was
become available and it's automatically
"Madge can fix them"

He's a backrower and he has a pulse.

Roll out the red carpet!

Seriously though, Howarth has been a massive bust. One of those players you'd bring on a T&T ala Shibasaki but you shouldn't go out of your way to sign.

Would you prefer Howarth or Gosiewski coming off the bench? At least Howarth has upside and he hasn't really been given that much of a shot in the second row. I say its worth the punt, we aren't exactly flushed with second row talent are we?

You would sign Howarth as a depth player, that's about it probably.

I would rather go for an actual backrower. There's a few options off-contract that could work out under Madge.

Remind me again which unwanted (key word) player has been anything other than bog average after being moved on for not being able to cut it in Melbourne's system?
Howarth is not the answer to anything, other than being the back ups back up on a pie and coke byo sauce contract.

Not sure how many of these were unwanted but:
- Tim Glasby
- Jordan McLean
- Kurt Mann
- Mark Nicholls
- Brandon Smith
- Scott Drinkwater (he definitely fits - he was released by the Storm)
- The Difference
- Max King
- Our very own Tyson Smoothy
- Daniel Atkinson

So yeah, it isn't unheard of in recent times that some they have been willing / ok with letting go have been solid to great at other clubs.

What are your thoughts on Jonah Pezet?

look tbh we need a mackay boy since Dearden left so it makes sense.

It's nice just to be mentioned as an option for a player on the move tbh. We've been very quiet on the recruitment front.

Not sure how many of these were unwanted but:
Glasby had 1 decent Season at Newy before retiring from repeated head knocks.
McLean and Mark Nicholls both had solid careers post Storm.
Kurt Mann was offered a starting Fullback role at the Dargs before being replaced by Matt Dufty.
Brandon Smith is a degenerate gambler and coke fiend.
Drinkwater is all attack, no defense.
Billy was average at Melbourne and again at the Tigers, he only really stood out in 23, average again in24 but so was everyone before having an immense 25.
King was stuck behind Bromwich, Welch and big Nelson.
Smoothy I miss every Teamlist Tuesday.
Atkinson the less said about the Dargons this year the better.

Honestly I don't think you can fairly judge him based on an injury riddled Season, while playing out of position in a team going through a rebuild.

Also Melbourne wanted him did they not? they just wanted him to stay as Hughes backup for a few more years before taking over, he was the one to ask for a release.

DRAGON ON BRONCOS’ RADAR

Dragons forward Luciano Leilua has been shopped to the Broncos as the ex-Samoa Test representative looks to revive his NRL career.

Leilua’s name has been put on the radar of the Broncos after he requested an immediate release from St George Illawarra.

It’s unlikely Leilua will leave the Dragons before season’s end, but it’s become apparent his future lies elsewhere.

Leilua, 30, played under Broncos coach Michael Maguire at the Tigers and Brisbane’s back row depth has been tested

Looks like he’s formed quite a bond with the hammer. I can’t see him leaving Redcliffe unless they have a falling out. Seems like more fun there not being under so much pressure all the time.

Well at the end of the day, I doubt its even true, just speculation but let's play hypotheticals and if it is, I'd take a dude who ends up solid, we don't have enough of them. He would be a capable, first grade experienced backup back and a potential bench forward. Having this kind of player is gold in modern league, I'd be all for taking a punt on him.
