for the 2027 season
There doesn't appear to be too much quality off contract for next season, maybe Morgan Smithies could be an option

for the 2028 season
Thomas Flegler - always been a big fan of Flegs. could form a great starting partnership with Xman

Kulikefu Finefeuiaki - not only do we need to strengthen the back row, but Piakura is one serious concussion away from retirement

I know it sounds like I'm stuck on this technicality, but nothing that Walsh is doing is acting like a 7. It's definitely more like a hybrid 1 & 6. The halfback's job is to be the calm head that directs the team, makes sure they stick to their plan, that they work to the points of the field and target certain areas. The great Lockyer was never a halfback, and was blunted without a controlling halfback that uses the pack and kicking game to earn the field position and momentum, just as Walsh has been while our team has been depleted.

Gree totally @Morkel if/when Walsh foes into the halves, in my mind it will be at 6

I feel like Lockyer ended up being more of a 7 towards the end of his career. But **** me that was a long time ago, might be remembering it wrong.

Karapani and Mariner (if he stays on wing) are a pretty outstanding wing combo though to be fair.

Flegler's time as an elite prop is over. He didn't deserve origin selection on form, and didn't play well.
