Broncos Sign Gavet

He brings toughness and aggression which is what we sometimes do lack. Kid looks enthusiastic to be playing to when he is out there to. Good pick up for us considering we lost hannant last week. Maybe not the calibre of a player of Hannants ability but he has a ton of potential none the less.

I think he is better than Hannant, playing off the bench anyway. When Hannant came on he hardly had any impact, but when Gavet comes on he pretty much lifts the who team with big aggressive runs.

Putting aside my respect and admiration for all that Hannett had done for the club, this guy is exactly the type of prop you shuold go for to replace him, as his best days are still ahead of him, a good age and someone who can still be moulded according to the needs and wants of the coaching staff and the team.

The rest is up to him, but i am quietly confident...!?

See the issue at the Broncos is that we have workhorse props (or a workhorse lock forced to play prop). McGuire, Kennedy and Hannant are all workhorse type front rowers, where their better suited to start and play big minutes rather than provide impact off the bench.

Hence neither Hannant or Kennedy had impact off the bench. McGuire, Kennedy and Hannant don't play with short bursts of high intensity and energy, they play with a sustained level of work rate.

The only real impact prop we had at the club was Hala, but for whatever reason he couldn't manage to stay on the field. I put it down to Hook not having faith in him, therefore not enough match fitness and therefore injuries.

Hopefully with Bennett that can change and he can have an extended run, cause I really believe having all three, Garbutt, Gavet and Hala would make us a very damaging team.

All the bigger and better teams seem to carry more props on the bench and to counter that we need to have our own, rather than back rowers.

I don't really know much about him, I've seen the name about and I guess at 24 he's going to need to start making a bigger impact if he wants to be more than a journeyman (even if injuries/personal issues have prevented him).

I'll reserve my judgement on him until I see how he performs, I don't want to fall into the Martin Kennedy trap again.

With Boyd apparently telling Knights teammates that he wants to stay, I think the team below looks very strong. I'm sure Bennett will get the best out of this team, playing to their potential week in week out

1. Barba
2. Kahu (or Hoffman if he stays)
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Vidot (can play on the right, I'm not sure if kahu and Hoffman play on the right or are just exclusively left side players)
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Kennedy
11. Glenn
12. Thaiday
13. Parker

14. Gillett
15. Garbutt
16. Gavet
17. Oates

I'd honestly prefer to drop Glenn and have Gillett start on the left, with Hala also included on the bench, but that wouldn't happen

Most props aren't much until they reach their mid twenties

Sure, but that doesn't mean when they hit their mid to late 20's they all experience a meteoric rise in performance/impact etc.

If we had signed one of the bromwich boys I'd be excited, but the jury is out for me as far as Gavet is concerned.

I have been watching a lot of his highlights and he is the goods. Even if he does not improve, he will be a great impact player off the bench.

I'm hoping he'll be wonderful, but he's only played 13 games at top level so I'd say his highlights package wouldn't be reels deep.

Yeah, we've been lacking a forward who can come on and really bend the line and provide impact. Kennedy was never that sort of player, even before his big injury. Hopefully Bennett can turn his attitude around.

If he's not playing for the Broncos he isn't just sitting out and not playing any footy for the week.

Ok..I found your source article, but it's hardly reputable. If a story doesn't get re shared usually there's not much to it. Sadly, I don't think that's true

Chris Garry from the CM said again yesterday that Boyd will be the Broncos fullback in response to someone suggesting Hodges

Ok.... Where did you hear this exactly?? Or are you just making shit up. .

No sir, I don't make things up...

Boyd tells teammates he wants to stay | NRL | Zero Tackle

As well as:

[h=3]Boyd riddle[/h]Darius Boyd has taken major steps on his road to recovering from depression and other issues. Aside from checking into rehab he has re-united with his mother after 10 years without seeing her. Boyd was also a surprise show at the Knights' awards night. He was welcomed with some warmth by the senior players at the club. What is odd is that he is telling teammates that his heart is in Newcastle and he wants to stay at the club.
