Broncos test positive for COVID

Almost everyone is going to have or know someone who has OmiCovid over the next few months. This is really unsurprising at this point and almost expected. If it is touching so many within the NRL already, it will touch everyone. You, your parents, extended family, friends.....Someone will get it.

The good news is you shouldn't be too worried about it (and thankfully most aren't, except those that like to collect toilet paper). Omicron is almost a well timed blessing in how it provides a chance at herd immunity when combined with the vaccine to keep deaths to a minimum.

Getting over the its only mild commentary around the place. Until you've sat through the night with a 2 year old who can't breathe due to RSV/a cold or probably OmiCron, mild is relative to age and health only.

My sister's boss, he contracted covid along with his wife, both in their 30's very healthy, he's struggling really badly, his wife had to go to ICU for 2 nights because her throat swelled so badly she couldn't breathe.

It's only mild for some, it's a disaster for others, absolute lucky dip and all you can do is have the vaccine to improve your odds.

Except you can catch it more than once. And you can develop long covid even if vaccinated. So yeah, we don’t want our guys catching it if they can help it.
The wrong demographic for long covid. 60-80% female and over 40. They don't even know what it is and the symptoms range from headaches, mental health issues and dementia. It looks and sounds a lot like chronic fatigue. Sars 1 back in the 2000s showed similar and a lot of it was discussed in studies, the effect of a pandemic, being put in isolation and the fear of death/ unknown can manifest in physical/mental health issues.

Young sportsman are one of the lowest risk groups for suffering a post infection illness. They are highly supported, physically fit and have fewer issues in their life that would burden them in the illness.

They are vaccinated, omnicron already has a 10x lower virulence and has the highest odds of being the strain that will become endemic. Meaning it shouldn't change so much as it's perfectly suited to be successful. So like other cold causing virus your immune system will be able to mostly handle it every few years.

Rsv has a higher lethality in the old and infirm than covid. Its a nasty virus, knocks little ones around immensely, can be scary but we are much better at getting them through it these days.

16 players confirmed today. Getting it out of the way. How is Patty doing in quarantine Nurse @Wolfie ?

Many will have it and not know as well.
I’m getting at least 1 or 2 covid case alerts through my gov per week in Sydney.

And I’m not even going anywhere other than gym and grocery shopping.

It literally feels like a matter of days if not already.
I'm not leaving the house until all you social butterflies have had it.

I went to Bunnings yesterday. About 1/10 not wearing (refusing to wear) masks, with that attitude about it look. Of the others, about 1 in 5 with their mask pulled down below their nose. At least it's fairly easy to keep your distance and it's a big shed, but it's up to you to do it with the unmasked. They don't give a ****.

I guess that's about the same ratio as vax dodgers. Probably the same cohort.

Brilliant. He is the covid killer. Life will be back to normal for the world now before we know it. He's like a modern day version of Chuck Norris.

There will be a Carrigan number soon. However many degrees of separation from The Pat will determine how likely you are to get Covid. It will not risk getting too close to him.

Yeh there was a few knuckle draggers at the Bunnings I visited too.

Sixteen of the 38 players, plus three football staff, are now banned from training for at least 7 days due to testing positive.

Donuts said everyone is vaxxed up:

“Our main concern is the health, safety and wellbeing of our players and staff, and we are fully focused on ensuring they are looked after while isolating. The Covid testing measures are in place to protect our people and our program and these results show that the system is working. These cases have been picked up early, allowing us to deal with them promptly and effectively, and then move forward with our pre-season."

“We’ve taken a proactive approach to managing this challenge, which will have many turns over the coming season. Our goal as a club is to tackle each challenge as they arise. As the spread of Covid grows across the community, we will continue to work closely with our players, staff, the NRL and the Queensland Government.”

“Sixteen of the 38 players due to train today have returned positive tests, as well as three staff members in the football department. They are presently obeying the Queensland Government’s health and safety protocols and are isolating at home for the mandatory seven-day period. Following isolation, they will be able to return if they have not shown symptoms for the previous 48 hours.”

It certainly isn’t fun having your little one coughing until they vomit, on repeat, night after night. Poor little buggers
Yeah scary stuff for sure. Children are so resilient but, can look like they are about to arrest Infront of your eyes and hour or two later be up for playing or fighting you tooth and nail while trying to give them oxygen.
