Broncos Vs. Knights - Build Up Thread

I've said this before, but I seriously hope the Warriors seriously bash the hell outta the Knights, so they face us battered and bruised, AND with nothing to play for!
LOL! +1. Hopefully they hurt the myth Gidley and the really good winger they have, I forgot his name.

I reckon Locky wil be out for at least another week. At least.

Tonight showed me I was wrong about Norman in one way - he's just not ready for the big games. He shouldn't play again this year.

I reckon start Hunt at 7 and play Wallace at 6. At least Wally knows the position well, and whatever, I reckon he did alright tonight with the lousy hand dealt him by Henjak and the lack of any instinct by most of the team in attack.

I actually can't see us winning this. We have the talent to crush the Kniggots. Trouble is, no leader.

The other bottom line for me is that GI is great, but our real problem is 9. Neither Macca nor Hunt come anywhere near what this team needs. I can only imagine what we would be like with say Farah, or Smith organising and scheming and kicking at dummy half.

... and our problems at dummy half really stand out when Lockyer isn't there.

1. Hoffman (brilliant find. I was so wrong about him)
2. Winters (only 'cos Kemp isn't available)
3. Glenn (damn he's invaluable at centre)
4. Folau (if only someone was in support yelling for the ball)
5. Yow Yeh (about bloody time)
6. Wallace (our only real option at 6, and wasted at 7, when Locky's away. He's our only player capable of organising anything)
7. Hunt (you will never be a hooker. I've learned that now)
8. Tronc
9. Macca (only 'cos we have no-one else: can't create much, can't organize; can't kick. Slow as treacle. Gets the ball, spends eternity looking around before he throws it. And by the time he does the defence is up in your face)
10. Dodds
11. Parker (stay out wide PLEASE)
12. Thaiday
13. Gillett (He is a true lock. Parker was never, and will never be the running lock we need. He's a grinding back rower. We could use Gillet from the scrum base a lot. Having Parker there loses us the extra option of a fast breaking forward from the scrum)

T'eo (On after 15 minutes. Please please please hit Giggly)
Setu (Why isn't he playing?) or McGuire
Sims (We really need him for the big ones)
Anderson

Farah or Smith would have been amazingly awesome if we managed to get either but it will never happen, both players will retire at the clubs they're playing for now.

1.Hoffman
2.Winterstein
3.Glenn
4.Folau
5.Yow Yeh
6.Hunt
7.Wallace
8.Tronc
9.McCullough
10.Dodds
11.Te'o
12.Thaiday
13.Parker

14.Gillett
15.McGuire
16.Anderson
17.Sims/?

I think putting Hunt in the halves with Wallace will add more direction to the team which we were missing last night. Norman is too risky, he could have an amazing game, or he could be really quiet and struggle to get into the game. I guess thats what you get with inexperience.

I'm not sure of what to do with the hooker rotation though. I'm thinking shift Gillett to the centres and let Glenn have a go at hooker to give McCullough a break. But I'm really not sure.

Next weeks result all depends on the Knights v Warriors this weekend. If the Warriors win the Knights are gone but if the Knights cause an upset the Knights have everything to play for still, Mullen or no Mullen they will be dangerous with Gidley playing in the halves.

I think the parra game established that Norman is not there yet and in these pressure end of season games, to play him is too much of a risk. I think he should be picked in situations where Wallace is out and he has Lockyer to guide him.

I really think the only option is to run with Hunt and Wallace for Newcastle.

I'd go with this team:

1. Hoffman
2. Winterstein
3. Glenn
4. Folau
5. Yow Yeh
6. Wallace
7. Hunt
8. Tronc
9. McCullough
10. Sims
11. Thaiday
12. Te'o
13. Parker

14. Norman
15. Gillett
16. Dodds
17. Anderson

If Hodges is fit, he goes straight into the centres with Glenn moving to the bench or he goes to the bench for Norman.

excellent team scotty

Despite the importance of the game I doubt Henjack will risk Lockyer. If he comes back and hurts himself we're stuffed for the whole season.

We can probably afford to drop one more game and scrape in but the focus has to be on winning at all costs.

People are pretty harsh on Norman IMO. Henjak did a terrible job of using him. Sat on the bench for 50, and came on under heavy pressure, considering we really needed points quickly. Dropping him would damage his confidence even further now IMO.

The more the media and people bash us this week saying we can't win without Locky the more chance we will win the game.
