Broncos vs Titans squad named

Re: Broncos v Cowboys Trial - Live Score Updates

Allegedly he was available for the game beads but he's seemingly fallen out of favour at the Titans and it appears Zillman is going to be persisted with.

The only players missing due to injury are Harrison & Srama according to RLW.

Silly move IMO, Zillman didn't work in the 6 at all last year and is probably better at fullback.

I hope they're ready for round 1!

Absolutely agree.

I suppose the idea is that Rankin will be the second playmaker @ fullback and all they need is a decent running/defensive half but I really don't think that's going to work either.

Does it ever work? Besides salary cap cheating scums Melbourne, I can't remember a team being sucessfull with the "throw a ball runner with no creativity at 5/8" tactic.

All the successful teams of the last few years have had real 5/8's and half backs, correct me if I'm wrong.

Shane Perry isn't exactly a real half but he did the job the team needed. It's quite clear that the pack is the Titans advantage and IMO its a pretty strong pack. I guess that's what they are playing to - their strengths. That and a lack of alternatives.

I wonder how long it will be until they look Parker-Walshe's way.

Shane Perry was a real halfback he just wasn't a really good one.

in 2006 Lockyer was unstoppable ... we could have had the worst halfback in the world playing there for us and still one the premiership...

But Perry was still a real halfback not a manufactured one.

Perry was a quality halfback - in the QCup. He wasn't quite good enough to make it at NRL level, however what WB was looking for in 2006 was an experienced campaigner who could bring attributes to our team that are developed only through years of football. He fit the mould nicely.

Perry for mine was still manufactured into an NRL halfback. He didn't have the game to really be one but thanks to Lockyer we could just use him in the role that was needed.

I also forgot Hornby. A crap, manufactured half.

I disagree with this. Perry was damn good at his role that year and that was organizing the team do that Lockyer had some weight taken off his shoulders. Something Brett Seymour failed at earlier in the season.

I'd say Hornby was more or less a running half in a very similar mould as Zillman. Difference is Rankin isn't exactly Boyd & Old Man Prince isn't as good as an in-form Soward.

Perry doesn't get the respect he deserves. A good defensive halfback who did a great job organising the side and his long distance kicking game particularly in 2006 was actually pretty good.

It's actually quite weird to think about Shane Perry.

He basically played one full season for us in which he won a premiership (and a handful of games in the following two seasons), yet I doubt anyone will ever really remember him in the future. I'd almost forgotten about him!

Yep, good old Perry has done more for us than Wallace ever did.

From memory his long kicking game was generally shot, didn't have the leg power.

Spot on Jeb, and Locky rated him for the job that he did as well.
