Can any team beat the Storm?

Boring? A backline consiting of Inglis, Slater and Folau is anything but boring. Last night's game, even though it was 0 - 0 for a long while, was a fantastic game. Wanna see what boring is? Watch the sharks.

See, I didn't find it all that great in the first 30 minutes. Then they started trying things. I guess I didn't like it because I hate both teams [icon_razz1

anyone that puts in as much effort as nutley and crocker will forever be favourites in my eyes.

And yet I recall you being critical when Wayne Bennett has been proud of the efforts of players like Stagg, making 50 tackles in a game, etc.

A bit hypocritical no?

no, making 50 ordinary tackles in a match is no feat these days. all u have to do is have a vnrl team to know that each team has a player that will get up around 40 - 50 tackles each week. Laffranchi, hindmarsh, fitzgibbon, luck, douglas, stewart, smith, ryan... i could keep going, fark, even fraser anderson makes over 40 some weeks. its nothing to hold in high regard.

I like crocker etc not because of their workload, but their passion and the fact they will be chasing the ball til the siren sounds, despite the scoreboard being against them.

And the "boring" thing - I *almost* agree the Storm are boring. But it's not your usual boring - they are just CLINICAL. It's all effortless, it all appears planned. They are just so well-drilled that there's no real ad-lib exciting footy 90% of the time. Just comes down to them being a brilliant team, though.

And you've never noticed how Stagg is often one of the first to make the tackle on kick returns at all stages of the game etc.?

Seriously, bag and hate players as much as you want, but admiring players for their supposed enthusiasm and effort, and bagging those who put 190% in each match, is extremely hypocritical on face value.

I agree theyve got some exciting players, but there game plan is just so repetitive.
Im so glad Bellamy isn't coming to brisbane

Exactly. They rely on getting penalties, holding down the opposition and 40/20s to gain field position. They have massive amounts of trouble when they have to work the ball out of their own line. They rely massively on set plays, and that is where the "clinical" part comes in.

They also have problems defending on their own line.

No team is unbeatable, especially as the Roosters pointed that out last year.

I do doubt that the Storm will be there come GF day. I also wonder when it will be their turn to cop some injuries. They seem to get it easy in that regard, but it will undoubtedly happen to them.

I'd be putting money of the Dragons to get the 2 points this weekend. haha. Shows the lack of depth the Storm have.

take of the broncos coloured glasses and watch it again. some horrible, horrible calls went against melbourne. it was the first match Frank has ever seen where the Broncos clearly got the help of the refere.
Well actually only 3 questionable calls in the entire game. In order;

One was the Berrigan head-high incident, which should have gone to the Storm.
Two was the no-try, however, watch the replay and you can see a white hand and a brown hand. The white hand knocks the ball. At best, it is a double knock-on, which still wouldn't have resulted in a try!!!
Three was the "forward pass" which actually touched Hodges hand.

2 years on...Storm should have won, but not because of a referee, because they shouldn't have made all the dumb shit mistakes they made in the first half.

Fucking exactly!!!!! Fact of the matter is they were outplayed by the team that was much better prepared and better coached. The Broncos were by far and away the best team on the night and deserved to win the game. Frank shouldn't be too upset because his favourite team won the comp in 2007 anyway.

Look, the Roosters showed how to beat the Storm in Round 20 last year.

You play them at their own game, rattle them with solid, consistent defence, mainatain consistent momentum up the middle, and shut down Smith.

Simple.

I think everyone can agree with me on this, Broncos are more than capable of defeating the Storm.
BUT if we happen to in the GF with them this year, we won't beat them without Lockyer. (assuming all squads have full strength)
I just think, in a GF situation, the current Broncs wont be able to grind a win out with the skipper.
Fair call?

Anyone can beat the Titans, they just have to be the home team. icon_thumbs_u
