Can we break our winning streak record?

In 1990 and 1999, the Broncos won 11 straight games. Our biggest winning streak in a season in our history.

For some reason, we just keep finding a way to win games even when everything is against us. So, can we beat that record this year?

Our next 7 games.

Dragons away
Eels home
Panthers home
Cowboys away
Knights away
Raiders away
Manly home

All those games are very winnable but it would have to be a big effort to stay up consistently for eleven weeks plus.

Cowboys away will be a big ask... but quite possible.

I can't see us winning 11 in a row, I'd love to but I just can't imagine it.

Nah, no chance in my book.

The game's a lot different these days in terms of style and teams are far more closely matched. Like come on man, the Eels beat the Rabbitohs, but then tonight they've lost to the bloody Titans at home. Crazy motherfucking shit right there!

We're going to have a down period this season, I'm certain of it - I just hope people don't lose their shit when it happens. We'll bounce back.

In saying that though, I will head into everyone of those games believing we can win. This is the most confident I've been in the team in a long time.

Believe!

5-1 is a great start regardless but 11-1 would be phenomenal!!

It's not a slump.

loading up on the Dragons next week after seeing this thread ...

In the context of the season so far, yes that draw is very nice for us, but form can change on a dime. We have to stay focused.

FTR, I don't think we can beat that record. I just thought I would ask the question and see what other people think.

We've had some high quality sides and have struggled to go on a long winning streak like that, but I think we could end up going into the Origin period with a very good win/loss record.

I could see us winning 5 of those games.

Doesn't it get Origin affected in a month or so? Can't see us being 100% through half of the Origin period.

We have a game before and after the first Origin game. That's the Knights and Raiders game. Those are the games I worry about.

The Sea Eagles game is before a bye so we won't lose any players and we'll have a good turnaround.

We'll really only lose players for one game. Unless Bennett rests players for the Raiders game.

Hard to say about the SOO period, when we were Bennett coached our SOO representation was a lot higher then in recent years, I think we can handle this period of the season better then previous years. Personally I think some people are getting way ahead of themselves about winning so many games in a row, all we can concentrate is one game at a time.

I doubt it. These days, every team wins games they shouldn't sometimes, and loses ones they should have won. Chances are at least one of these nuffy sides will beat us.

Being really careful to not sound like a Souths fan of 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014. The calendar has only just flicked past March. Good signs and last night was a massive buzz, but it's a long season.

Every one of those games is definitely winnable, but winning all of them seems unlikely as others have said

Still, it's nice to be thinking the reason we won't win a bunch of games in a row isn't lack of ability

Exactly.

I'm very happy with the start that we've had, but i expect us to lose a few during the rep period, that's totally expected by Bennett too IMO.

With a full strength side, we can beat anyone. Injuries and the rep games will be a factor of course, but this season, the quality of footie is so high every top team is going to get beaten now and then.

Provided our defence builds on what we saw v Roosters, and we work on our attack, especially continuing to integrate Milford, and getting more combinations happening with our edge forwards and outside backs, I don't see why a top 4 finish is not on the cards, especially when Boyd returns.

A winning streak is unimportant to me. It's consistency and working on combinations, and hitting hard in defence which is important. The importance of the win against the Roosters can't be under estimated. They came here expecting to flog us.

As far as combinations go, we are still under utilizing Gillett. Milford and Glenn are working on theirs. It's time Hunt and Gillett started to work together a lot more. Gillett has so much attacking talent he is a waste atm compared to what he could do.

Our centres are not getting quality ball nearly enough and the consistency and variety of our kicking game needs to improve dramatically.

Once that happens, we are as good if not better than any team. It's what we have lacked over the years: consistency. I see us losing only to a side which plays better footie than us rather than us losing through poor play, and there is no shame in that.
