Did someone punch the coach?

Had to laugh last night, I got 4 or 5 texts from Souths fans saying along the lines of "WOOHOO WE WON THE SHIELD AGAIN!!!" Shows how much they are starved for success when they get this excited over retaining a pre-season shield [icon_lol1.[/quote:2qpqag6y]

TBH souths fans are some of the worst RL fans I have come across. Not because they are violent or toothless bogans, but because SO many of them are fairweather fans, and claim their success (which basically ended 39 years ago) makes them superior to us. Getting smashed by Souths last year was fucking painful, a rabbitohs "supporting" mate of mine couldn't wait to rub it in my face despite the fact that most weeks he couldn't tell you what the result of their game was.

We have a lot of Souths fans around here, and I'll tell you what, they're anything but fairweather. Rain hail or shine they've got Bunnies gear on, and the only reason they don't stir everybody after games is because they so rarely win them.

The souths fans I know are obviously different then.

A particularly agressive case of all-affecting Myxomatosis through the joint wouldn't be too tragic.

Haha true Souths fans know the shield means nothing. It is only something to stick up the Dragons when we win. All I care about is seeing our players getting some match fitness up, work on a few things to get the cobwebs out and not get injuried.

For me the shield is just like SOO. For the 80 minutes I care what the outcome is and afterwoulds I couldn't care less.

If you beat the Dragons in a regular season game would I still get 4 or 5 text messages? (Not to mention facebook status updates etc etc).

Probably not on the text messages, unless you gave those people shit saying Dragons would smash us or something.

The people who sent you the text messages obviously find the Charity Shield important. Which is fine by me, I just find it frankly stupid to be celebrating it like it was a GF win. Yes it is nice to retain it, but at the end of the day it means nothing.

On the Facebook status updates, well that will still happen. As I do that after every game, whether we win or lose.

That is what I like to hear icon_thumbs_u
