Prop Joel Clinton has revealed Brisbane stood him down for Friday's loss to Melbourne because he had admitted to breaking club policy by inviting a woman back to his hotel room before a game.

I wonder how long the club will leave him out of the top side for?? He did break the rules and deserved to be dropped and possibly a fine but I think he should be back playing next weekend... Thoughts??

I laughed when the mentioned the reason on 9 sports, they said he invited his lady friend.

The crime of the year NOT, don't think it deserved him being dropped, getting a fine maybe.

Awesome now my head can rest :)
Seriously though, I don't think there's anything in that and if the media start making stories out of it I will be seriously pissed.

there is definitely nothing wrong here (besides breaking the clubs COC and he has got punished so fair enough) and I'm sure most would agree, seems a bit weird that he got suspended for it and perhaps even more than a week???

Hope he's back next week!

If thats true and thats all he did then thats just silly dropping him for that. Dropping him for a game that important is just dumb. IMO a massive slap on the wrist and maybe a fine. But to drop him from a game where so many where out is just dumb.

Particularly when Kenny and Michaels were cautioned by Police whilst on a bender in Byron and got off with nothing.

Spot On!
I really don't get it, I guess Michaels didn't "technically" break the clubs COC (and who knows what that clubs COC is) but Clinton did.

Still though seems harsh and I certainly hope he's back next week even one week was overkill for mine tbh.

I can't see how getting cautioned by Police then the Media reporting isn't breaking the COC if taking a bird back to your hotel room is.. Just my view strange but I'll live with it

Clinton is probably thankful for being dropped after the teams performance, he hmself would not have made a 44 point difference.

Team rules are rules and he broke then so suffered the consequences. Kenny and Michaels acts were while on a break, different circs for mine, but stupid none the less.

One of the stupidest reasons I have ever heard for standing down a player. Perhaps next time Joel will invite her back to his toilet. That way he can escape any such punishment.

I agree, he broke a rule and the CoC and rightfully should be punished, but to drop him for it... pfft.

It is nice how Bruno flexes the COC...........when he feels like it.

How is it stupid? Clearly the club has a code of conduct. And one of the rules is that you cannot invite women back to your hotel room! Smart move - this may prevent re-occurrences of issues like the 3some in the toilet or the Sharks 2002 scandal.

Clinton broke the clubs code of conduct, therefore he was stood down. Fair call.

The rule might be shit in some peoples opinion (In fact, it probably is a little harsh I guess) but the fact is, he broke the rules so he has to be punished for it.

Did he force her into the room against her will? Unless he did, I fail to see how what he did is worse than what happened last year with Thaiday, Boyd and Hunt. How is what Clinton did worse than what Kenny and Michaels did?

Rules is rules? PUH-LEASE! If this were a final, he would not be stood down. No way, No How.

As for preventing re-occurences of issues...again, PUH-LEASE! What's next, forbidding players from dating? Honestly, there's a huge difference between ONE player inviting ONE woman back to his room than a 3some in the toilets of a night club. To draw a connection between the two and calling it some sort of preventative measure is frankly an insult to players, women and just about everyone else with an iota of intelligence, which I guess excludes 99% of NSW people.

Most of the public outrage, particularly the Sharks incident is pretty much without foundation and to think that a club would gave in to these piss ants is just another reason why this is stupid.

Our Code of Conduct is laughable.

Invite your GF back to the hotel room & you are dropped or go to Byron Bay & get cautioned by the police for unrinating in public & kicking a car & get a fine. [icon_evillaugh

It's not against the Code of Conduct if it's in another post code.

i think the most amusing part is that it seems she was a net dating hookup...

paraphrased: "he was communicating with her for a month and they arranged to meet in person"
