Coaching Problems

I know things like this have been discussed in other parts but I thought it deserved one of it's own.

We all know alot of people are calling for Henjak to be sacked, I am one that would like him to go as well. I don't think Henjak is up to first grade coaching, and we need someone alot better. But who would replace him? Who of high quality is available that we could get?

Last yr we missed the boat with Michael McGuire, he is now at Wigan and they are smashing teams in super league. I have seen that we were linked to Ricky Stuart at the start of the year, I think he is a good coach, but the Sharks are sucking under him, last yr they had alot of injuries and this yr they really don't have a high quality side but would he make the Broncos any better? Stephen Kearney seems to be a good coach, but would he be a good fit for the broncos? I think he could be, a former forward could bring the best out in a young pack that we have. John Dixon is back coaching redcliffe and has alot of experience in the broncos ranks, but he got the sack from Crusaders and really didn't do anything special over there. Terry Matterson seems a good coach, who was a great broncos player and knows the culture. He does not have a great squad at Castleford but they do pretty well with what they have. Kevin Walters as much as I would love him back at the broncos, catalans are struggling under him and it would not surprise me to see him get the axe before the end of the yr.

I really don't know who else might pop up, if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them. Another idea would be to get a stronger support staff for Henjak. Maybe even bringing in a former 1st grade coach as an assistant could work. Other NRL sides have brought guys in like Royce Simmons and Peter Sharp as assistants and it seems to be alright. Maybe that could add something to the side, Graham Murray, Michael Hagan, Brad Fittler, Jason Taylor are all around. Even bringing back guys like Shane Webcke, Gorden Tallis, Trevor Gillmeister. I think we need a couple of hard nut ex forwards to come in and show the forwards the way.

Any thoughts?

hopefully not Darren Lockyer as Mark Geyer suggested in RLW yesterday.

I LOL'D when I read that. I didn't buy the magazine because of it!!

id be happy with Graham Murray as assistant coach.

Anthony Griffin is a pretty strong support staff, hes a future NRL coach and better than most you mentioned... I'm sick of this sack Henjak crap, hes been given an extension, hes not going anywhere... give the guy some time, we have injuries, which is not Ivan's fault, your just looking for the most obvious and simplistic solution of 'sack the coach'... He got us to the 2nd last week of the season last year, its only rd5 now and we are 1/4, hardly panic stations... Give the guy some credit, Henjak has groomed Glenn, Gillett, Copley, Beale, Norman, Dodds, McGuire, Hunt, Lui, Hala, Rivett, Winterstein all in 34 games, winning 18 of them... pretty impressive imo... Its not coaching problems, its supporter problems, spoilt by the clubs success...

Henjak isn't that bad although some of his selections and non selections are questionable.. I still can't believe Bruno& co extended his contract after 1 season. Now is the time for Henjak to show how good of a coach he is.. If he can get this team of wannabe's and a few talents to win a few and show some heart and passion for the club maybe he is good enough! He at the very least deserves till the end of the season IMO. The last thing the club needs is to sack a coach mid season!

I think Henjak should be given more time, but if he cant motivate the players enough to actually want to be out there and try hard and quit all this partying shit, then maybe hes not the right guy

I do believe that the Broncos will struggle with recruiting and retention with Henjak and Bruno at the helm!

the players, especially since they are young, need to respect Henjak and that comes from a strong commitment to him from the club...

Respect is earnt not a given when you are thrusted into a position you are not ready for. The club made a blunder IMO when they extended his contract no surprises though Bruno is still CEO [icon_shru

Stop! Topic time......

Henjak does need to be given time to settle in this position he is setting up his own side and if he does not think Sims/Clinton fit in it then there must be a reason.

IMO anyway Sims does better when he is under fire. Look at how good he played after sitting on the bench against the rooters. When it looks like he is out of favor he fires up.

Don't forget the big bad wolf Bruno... [icon_razz1 I have no problem with you having a differing opinion mate, but that doesn't make mine a 'dream' or a 'fantasy' as you have called it either...

I'm curious, if your accusing Bruno of everything but global warming, does that mean you credit him with the premiership win as well? Good and the Bad?

*sigh*.

If we had of had no injuries, we wouldn't be 1 from 4 right now and we wouldn't be asking for Henjak's head. The SAME thing happened last year when we went through our bad streak, then when we came one game within the GF, people were praising Henjak. Typical BHQ knee-jerk reaction.

Correction...

Typical Rugby League Fan knee-jerk reaction.
