Coaching Problems

Anyone suggesting henjak should be sacked must be drunk. He worked wonders for our turnaround in form last year and I think that shows the massive potential he has. People seem to conveniently forget that currently we are completely up shit creek with injuries, and a lot of the players who aren't injured are rookies for this season.

Ivan will be doing the best that he can with what he has. If we had no injuries so far this year I reckon we would be easily in the top 8 at this point, but lets bear in mind it's only round 5 this week as well, still plenty of time for our luck to change.

*sigh*.

If we had of had no injuries, we wouldn't be 1 from 4 right now and we wouldn't be asking for Henjak's head. The SAME thing happened last year when we went through our bad streak, then when we came one game within the GF, people were praising Henjak. Typical BHQ knee-jerk reaction.

Correction...

Typical Rugby League Fan knee-jerk reaction.

Correction...

Typical *insert every sport* supporter knee-jerk reaction

In 1991 after we missed the finals everyone was calling for Bennetts head... if the club had have sacked him we wouldn't be the success we are now, remember it took Bennett 5 years to win the clubs first premiership. Henjak needs time, he has a young squad and most of the experience he has is sitting on the sidelines injured.

Correction, after every loss they were calling for Bennetts head, can't recall how many times people here have wanted to sack the coach or drop or sack a rep or experianced player for a younger one.

I can remember saying that one day these guys will get their wish and just like the tooth fairy their wish has come true. Bennett has gone, as has most of the senior players have gone and we have so many "Young" and "Up and coming stars" you guys should be happy!!! all we need now I believe is for Hunt to replace Lockyer and Hoffman and Copley to come into the side and what a difference they will make.

A wise man once said that if you start listening to the fans you'll be sitting with them, hmm, I wonder who said that?

The reality is that we have too many injuries to to too many key players that we are just not able to compete, fact. Until we get our experianced players back on the paddock we will continue to struggle, regardless who our coach is.

Oh BTW, whoever said Ricky Stuart is a good coach, give yourself an uppercut, FFS, the Sharks last year had the worst points for record and have just avoided 15 straight losses under his coaching and you want him???? ROFL, that'll do me!! [icon_drun [icon_drun [icon_drun

Don't get me wrong, I am not 100% for Henjak getting the sack. I just don't think he is the bloke to take us forward into the next 10yrs. I thought I would pose the topic to say if the people who think Henjak should get fired who would be the person that would be able to take over. So far there is more opinion on Cullen and that and no suggestions haha. Just alot of people don't want him as coach, so who would take over. There is not much available to be honest. I know he has alot of injuries and that, I would personally just like to see the support staff strengthened. Definately a forwards coach whether it be Webcke again, or someone like Tallis, Gillmeister, or even Glenn Lazerus.

people seem to want us to follow the lead of Sydney clubs and just sack the coach when things get a bit tough and thats not what we are all about.

I would like to see him get the sack, but you're probably right Foordy. That's not what the Brisbane side is about. The only Problem I have with Ivan is that when he loses a key player his backup plans seem to suck big time. I think when he doesn't have the stars to do the work for him he doesn't know what to do.

To everyone bitching about Henjak being given a 2 year extension (which personally I don't have an issue with whatsoever) I shudder to think what you'd be saying if we were in America given the contract extension just given to the coach who took Butler University to the National Championship in college basketball last week...

Brad Stevens is content to keep coaching the Butler way.

The 33-year-old coach, who came within a buzzer-beating shot of winning the NCAA men's basketball championship, signed a 12-year deal Thursday that extends through the 2021-22 season.

I agree! Look at what happened to the teams that were under Ricky Stuart - Roosters, NSW SOO, Sharks...IMO the only success he's had is from taking over after Graham Murray was making progress with the teams (Roosters, NSW). Also, I don't think Murray would accept an assistant's position, would you?

We're expecting an awful lot from a young, inexperienced side here guys. Yes, I'm sure they're looking at their past performances and trying to work on improving. We've got so many experienced players injured. Everyone is under pressure - coaching staff, players, management. I haven't always agreed on some of the recruitment choices but this is our team for the year. How about we try supporting them through it all instead of shooting them down in flames for every poor performance as their trying to gel together as a team??

Stuart coached NSW in 05, before Murray...

The main coaching issue as I see it is our attack being too flat.
