OFFICIAL Coby Black to join Raiders in 2026, He's Gone

Calvin harris-tavita or braithen scott might get elevated to top 30 in 2027 then? Are either great prospects?
A former talent scout from NZ said he hasn't seen someone as exciting as Harris -Tevita in many many years. Saying he's the next Benji.
Duffy was QRL halfback of the year in 24.
Not sure about Scott.

just on the Milford talk, in the back end of 2021 he was really good for us

Sounds like if we had a reserve grade team with total control over who/where/how players were playing, Black might’ve had a better time and kicked on.

Instead they get put into seemingly random teams with players and coaches they may not fit in with and plans that may not be very beneficial.

This seems a weird thing to get caught up on. This is how it's been forever, and all players have the same opportunity.

How's it any different to regular work? I hated a ****load of the places I worked and the ****wits I worked for and with. I left.

Why are people so hell bent on removing talent from the cup teams just to suit some not needed reserve grade dream?

Probably a worthy discussion, but the catalyst shouldn't be some nobody getting a new job.

Because it again poses the question of is our current system the best it could be for our developing players?

For the record, I’ve never watched Black, and didn’t have any opinion in whether he stayed or went, but it seems that despite all his apparent hype, he never showed being even close to ready for NRL as opposed to others in his age group.

It could be that his ceiling is low and there’s not much improvement left and it was classic overhype the Broncos kid, or has it plateaued or even regressed because he hasn’t had suitable players or coaches around him? It shouldn’t be above the club to ask these questions of themselves, regardless of where they ultimately ended up on Coby.

I don’t know why people have this resistance to a single reserve grade side, Broncos named or not. NSW clubs have it, Storm are doing it now, NZ are doing it. To me it makes sense to have all our players in one spot so they can smoothly transition into first grade, especially now as we’re on the up. And it has come up again recently as something the Qld cubs might be considering

I just don't see how another team would change that. He could walk into a reserve team, hate the team, hate the coach, still not be good.

The resistance for me, is that Qcup forever has needed backing and support or the national competition and it just doesn't get it. Our cup series should be much bigger.

At the moment we have what, 4 feeders? So we'll pull that back down to 1 feeder essentially? I think Qcup will do it, Ikin was keen as, but I still don't like it.

The fact Qcup is thrown to the curb is odd though.

After reading through 7 pages of chat about this, I guess I’m going to have to be the one to say it.

I’m not sure if this makes me a hoity toity toff and is evidence of a class divide, but I absolutely CANNOT support a player called Braithen.

Just start talking him up hard on BHQ before he's ever done anything and it'll never happen.

The back end of 21 where he played 4 games where we couldn't make the finals, only for him to leave the club and get arrested?

Yeah, was a killer end to the season for him alright.
i dont know how many games it was but he was awesome in them, it would have been more than 4 tho, also pretty sure we forced him to leave us, and we got wam bam in the team so we cant really speak about arrested

Perhaps you should look into it more before disputing it?
